Hi, apologies if this has been mentioned before, I would search, but I find the
forum extremely hard to use. It's extremely disfunctional, and nigh on impossible,
for me anyway, to read threads etc.
I'm by no means a novice when it comes to forum usage, I have over 10K posts
on a forum I frequent sort of frequently.
Would it be possible to implement the use of software from the likes of V-Bulletin,
other software porviders are available, to base the foundations of the forum
on?
All I see on here, is people have posted replies on a thread. It needs more
structure, IMO. Unless I'm missing something that will enable me to change
the forum skin to something similar to what I recognise as a forum?
I've added a couple of screengrabs, to show what I see here, compared to
what I see elsewhere.

Apologies and thanks,
this might help
allthough when you click on topic classical "menu" pops up..
If all you see is replies there is a "Without Replies" link on the top right
just above the "Post" listing. This forum is formatted more like the old usenet
groups rather than current forums which has one benefit over the BBcode style
forum which is that you can reply to specific posts versus having everything
in one long string by post time. That way you know who the post is replying
to without having to "quote" everything in order to get the context. It is a
bit different but not unreadable.

Voted No. This Forum is much easier to use than others where everybody has to
reply to the original post. Chances are you are not using the BL Forum correctly.
Look at the bottom of the screen for the Topics menu (see image 1). If you want
more options, including keyword searching, use the top row of tabs (see image
2).

On this page: http://www.bricklink.com/messageFilter.asp change your default
view to Brief & Without Replies. This will give you a better front page view
for the forum, where you just see the thread names and the first few lines of
the first post.
The forum does lack some important features, but it also has some benefits over
the type that you have a screens hot of.

I go one better and use "Compact" and "No Replies".
Also, definitely get used to clicking on the "speech bubble" to the left of the
post to get the whole thread on one page.
