The search bar needs some sort of search function so that set categories can
be easily searched. (I know you can with an advanced search, but there is no
reason this cannot be done from the normal bar -- and it's going to deter
newbies who can't search for obvious things).

Example: If I type in "Chima", hardly any sets come up -- because "Chima"
is technically not in the set name, but the category of the set.

Please fix this.

Or like I said somewhere else, search for spiderman and it comes up with not
found.......

You need to write spider-man, not all of us are native English speakers...

Please fix this.

This,

Maxx

Try searching for AT-AT. Impossible to find the sets without browsing through
SW sets. Searching for AT-AT leaves you bound and stranded like the one in the
picture.

I wanted to let you know that we are aware of the serious issues related to the
existing search feature here on BL. I can assure you that this is on the list
of things that need to be fixed. Unfortunately, it's not a quick fix. The
entire search database needs to be rebuilt and the way matching is done needs
to be changed. If you take into account the number of different sets, themes,
parts, and so on that are in this database, it's a huge undertaking. Because
of this, I expect overhauling this entire system will be done for the future
BL website instead of the current site. That doesn't mean that some specific
fixes might not happen on the current site, just not correcting the entire search
database. I haven't seen the specific details yet, but I can also tell you
that the MOC shop will test a search feature with a limited number of elements.
This would then be used as a basis to build the entire new database for the future
website.

Thanks
Amanda

Hi Amanda,
SORRY to have to point out this again, but:
Preparing and during the Mannheim Meeting (1st of August last year - so nearly
9 months ago !!) it was clearly stated that the CATALOG and SEARCH FUNCTIONS
AND ALGORYTHMS as well as the order processing including COMPLETE PRICE TRANSPARENCY
(fees, shipping costs etc.) as well as AUTOMATED CHECKOUT are the two KEY ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS to be improved resp. implemented AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Unfortunately NOTHING has been done to come 'a bit' forward here. The
first requirements for the complete price transparency have been sent to Admn
in August 2012 !

So, sorry, but please hurry up to work on these features before adding new MoC
Shops etc. which are not feasable at all for European sellers 'cause they
don't reflect any of these known requirements.
Moreover - a search feature for the MoC Shop doesn't require any of the needs
and problems of the general 'Brickipedia' or do you think we
-will devide MoC/Custom Sets in sevral StarWars categories which should be grouped
by 'StarWars'
-need a function do differentiate and reference alternate parts / items
-add some Members crireria like "I'am a collector of vintage sets vs. interested
in buying current sets"
(just three examples)

Certainly, there will be some issues looking for custom sets as well, but there
the easiest way will be to look for some kind of a rating system (e,g, KNOWN
visitors who have voted with x of y points), price, number of parts, copmplexity
-means beginners, ..., experts) etc. etc.

So, PLEASE STOP DESIGNING any ALPHA versions (normally s.o. publish a BETA VERSION
for testing under real conditions before going live) WITHOUT ANY COMMUNICATION
with potential users to find out there ideas and needs.

Okay?

Thanks for consideration AND SOONEST IMPLEMENTATION

Thomas
