| After the recent restrictions on new members to send messages, now they scamers
are going to the forums!
Just under my post you will see about 15 cancelled messages. How about considering
blocking new buyers to so many posts per day in the forums too? Maybe not, if
someone is in need of a fake passport
That was ridiculous.

This is something I don't like about Euro Bricks
a well policed forum doesn't need this. The admin part of it just needs
to be able to remove (out of site) canceled posts.
Thanks,

| Voted no. If anything, we should do more to ENCOURAGE new buyers to post in the
Forum. It will help them learn BL faster, add fresh ideas and viewpoints to the
Forum, and people active in the Forum generally tend to place more orders on
BrickLink. Sounds like a win-win-win for everyone.

All we need is a delay in how fast they can post a new topic. Even at 30 Seconds,
that would delay spammers a lot.

Just like how admin recently implemented limits on newer buyers sending messages,
I am not saying impose anything that would restrict actual buyers from posting.
Only a restriction that would limit the spam posters. So a delay between posts
or better yet, the spammer used the same title over and over again. Maybe make
it so a person can't re-post the exact same message over and over again similar
to how Craigslist combats spammers.

| Easy to solve...
More moderators, a few from each timezone, with the ability to delete posts...
(Or hide them from view for a higher up level mod/admin to review)
Also these moderators should have the ability to put a temporary hold on stores
and a private email address or phone number for emergency use...
Bricklink is great, but isn't as effective against this type of stuff as
other sites I use for other interests...

It is very effective as the spam posts were cancelled while they were posted.
Of course a human is not as fast as a bot but sufficient enough for this sort
of stuff.

I used to be a part of another wiki based forum. The spammers found it and loaded
new pages full of Viagra ads and Walmart gift card surveys. The admins (plural)
there kept blocking IP addresses but eventually gave up and got overrun. I don't
know why they didn't restrict new users. I don't frequent there anymore.
More moderators sounds like a good idea to me. It's not like it would take
extra resources. Why wouldn't it be effective?

no thankyou, we are all sellers (not necessarily all active) and such a move
would sooner or later bring into question someones integrity. Admin has the ability
to put a hold on stores and that ability is used.
| and a private email address or phone number for emergency use...

All reports do come through to every moderators private email address. I already
have a personal and a work mobile, I would in principle be happy to take emergency
calls, but ultimately, if im in a position where Im not seeing the email come
in, then Im not in a position to act upon it.
| Bricklink is great, but isn't as effective against this type of stuff as

|
On the whole I would disagree with that statement. Of course there are occasions
when theres literally no one around (including admin) to pick up on a report
thats submitted but on a comparable level (i.e. commercial websites with forums,
not non-commercial websites) were probably right up there as one of the best.

I don't know about the temporary hold on stores part. I agree on more moderators
and ability to delete posts, though.
