I would like to see some other brands of bricks available on the site, obviously
they would have to have a seperate category because no one wants a mega block
when they thought they were getting lego. Lego is obviously the best but the
other brands have certain parts that are very useful, wheels and weapons being
the best examples.

Logged in specifically to vote no. Tried voting no twice but it wouldn't
work.

My suggestion, create your own custom listing and then try to sell it via the
forum. No, really, go ahead and try.

A big NO from me. Sometimes (and thank God they are still rare in Denmark)
I get hold of that kind of copy-crap. They go straight in the bin to be burned
and used for central heating in my town.

Parting out a new lego set can be good if other people need the parts to use
in a model they are making.
You need a bit of spare time, a few plastic baggies and a clear work surface

Parting out brands like best-lock sets can be good if you have spare space in
your bin.. The easiest way to part out generic brand sets is to take a large
bin to your local toy shop and put the boxed sets directly into the bin..

Parting out a megabloks set is more complicated,,.. You have to individually
melt each piece before you throw them away, thus rendering them slightly more
difficult to connect together if anyone finds them later on...

On a serious note. NO.

My reaction was akin to that of a vinyl lp appreciation club (most of whom are
signed music artists) to a new member who cheerfully smiled about this thing
called "Napster." (Or whatever napster is called these days)

On a more helpful note, I would advise eBay. Any loose lot (especially "by the
pound") will contain around 5% to 20% non-Lego blocks, which, ironically, is
what prompted myself and many other users to seek out this site. Thus, many will
view encouraging a non-Lego presence to be counterproductive.

Hmmm, how best to say this, while I like to collect 2x4 bricks of all kinds.
While I don't mind the occasional mistaken brick in my LEGO.
Since LEGO is officially a clone brick of Kiddicraft.
The point I'm actually making here comes down to a simple, no.

No! Not even if it was the old incompatible Loc Blocs. Although, I could really
use the instructions for the Loc Blocs Space Raider Motorized Command Base.
Yes I was the poor, uncool kid who had Loc Blocs. They were my favorite toy
growing up and led me to becoming an AFOL.

I'm sorry, but this is a web site designed primarily for the sale of products
and items designed by the LEGO company.

Although there are other 'custom' designed items for sale here, they
are CUSTOM designed and not products designed/made/released by a main stream
seller/company, ie Kre-o and others

So your 'suggestion' is going to be voted NO, and NO again by approx
99% of the buyers and sellers on this site.

Why not join the Mega-blok web site?

Regards,

Paul

I think that it will happen.

There's a market for it. There's money to be made. I expecte that the
new BL owners will continue to take the site in new directions, and this change
(which is practically allowed already) will be formalized within 1 year of BL
2.0.

I don't think it's a good idea, though.

They have every right and opportunity to copy what we have done here to a seperate
Blocklink website for that stuff. It might work. But they should not mix them
here.

If they did it, i'd just hope it would be in one site (but with easy-to-use
filters). We don't want to give paypal even more fees because of separate
orders on multiple sites!

As for the basic idea, I don't care much for the larger scale megablox, but
I'd love to get my hands on some tyco, and yes I have a dirty little collection
of elgo American Plastic Bricks going

They have every right and opportunity to copy what we have done here to a seperate
Blocklink website for that stuff. It might work. But they should not mix them
here.

If they did it, i'd just hope it would be in one site (but with easy-to-use
filters). We don't want to give paypal even more fees because of separate
orders on multiple sites!

As for the basic idea, I don't care much for the larger scale megablox, but
I'd love to get my hands on some tyco, and yes I have a dirty little collection
of elgo American Plastic Bricks going

Being fan of LEGO I can understand people enjoy other building blocks (especially
the old ones), but that does not mean I want to buy or sell them here. Separate
them.

absolutely not. Not trying to be mean, I see that there are plenty "no" responses
on here, but seriously, have you every tried to build with the competitor products?
They just don't build well together, and building alone with other products
doesn't work either b/c they just aren't built well.

they would have to have a seperate category because no one wants a mega block
when they thought they were getting lego. Lego is obviously the best but the
other brands have certain parts that are very useful, wheels and weapons being
the best examples.

Can you imagine the arguments on here between enthusiasts of each product, half
the members would be banned. Besides, others might run out of popcorn.

Suggestion--;

10 echo Heck no!
20 goto 10

Seriously this is built ground up to be LEGO marketplace. If this place starts
selling other stuff I may consider moving on to other marketplaces.

Adding megablok would make catalog admins cry, there is so many one off parts!!

Well, don't let folks' overenthusiastic responses put you off the forums.
Things get pretty animated on here at times.

I actually posted a couple of mixed pounds of Mega Bloks to eBay just to get
rid of them. I relisted them twice. I literally couldn't find a buyer willing
to pay one penny for the whole batch. In hindsight, the wasted time was a useful
learning experience.

It is really up to the owners, if they want that income stream.

There are people who do want to buy other brands, and would like to be able to
search for them the same way this site allows one to search for Lego.

We already allow other "brands" as long as they are not major "brands".

However,
We only allow these other "brands" IF the same part is not also made by Lego.
So why not the same standard for major "brands"?
If I were to mold my own pieces, I could sell them here, as long as they "supplemented"
and did not replace anything Lego makes.

The only non-Lego brand pieces I would want, are those that Lego does not make.
My favorite non-Lego brand piece is the half height Tyco plate.
This allows me to get a difference of 1/6

I archieve your idea which was a intressting idea. I mean in the shop I'm
working we get lots of "Not-LEGO"-stuff. But this will not work on BL. First
of all, other company created bricks have not this cool Lego PartNumber system.
for example: there ist often the part number "printed" on it on some place like
3001 on the 2 x 4 Brick( I hope you get the idea)
As Idea it was well ment. But it's nearly impossible to apply on this page.
There would be a MAYOR HATE WAVE!!!!111oneoneone....
Take it easy and try to sell your "Not-Lego" on eBay instead.
