Hello Admins & All again,

Another suggestion.

In the catalog, would it be possible to have direct link to the Lego manuals.
Most of the new ones can be downloaded from Lego but a direct link would be easier.

It would probably require the authorization from Lego due to copyrights.

I was also thinking about the possibility to have scanned copy of the older (not
on Lego website) Lego manuals hosted here and linked to the sets in the catalog.

Just some thoughts that have been floating around my head for some time.

Again thank you for reading.

Best regards,

Olivier Koeune

Good suggestion, though I'm not supporting it for two reasons.

First, I think that this would probably harm the sales of old instructions here
in BL. I do not sell them, but for those people who do, they know that they rarely
sell, let alone if they were widely available here.

Secondly, I'm almost sure that by implementing this function we would end
up with about 5% of the old instructions scanned, and a void of 95%, which would
be annoying. It would require tons of work, and since not many people are willing
to do it, the feature would end up being useless and just "junking" up the catalog.

Yea, I couldn't support that one because it would harm sales of instructions.
Bricklink is an information site as well as a sales site but it is an information
site focussing on sales and buying so doing something that would actually remove
sales would be bad for all the sellers and in turn Bricklink. I can see where
buyers would love it but in reality there is another site that does what you
are asking that I am not sure if I can mention here due to rules.

I see your point,

I collect Lego Star Wars and I have downloded all of the SW manuals from Lego.
If I find one that I don't have on paper on Bricklink at a decent price,
I will buy it to add to my collection.

Of course, I will not buy a Lego instrucion book for something that I do not
need just to look for inspiration, not even for a few cents as it would cost
too much to ship. If I want to look at a manual, there are places online to look
for them. If a collector wants to buy it, he will if it is at a reasonable price.

So it will not change much for the sales of instruction books.

If there is a really rare and expansive one that is not available anywhere else
than do not scan it and do not share it.

Thank you for reading.

Personally I don't think it would effect sales of instruction much. (not
at all for the year 2000+ instructions) True collectors will allways want the
original prints not a scan. including the box It would however improve the quality
of this site and move it towards a more of a all usage site.

Making instruction available would however increase the brick sales and save
the instruction from risk of getting lost or degraded. because there is alot
more common builders that just want to play/build enjoy his hobby. Personally
would love to see scans of the boxes aswell. And I would actually pay small sum
of money for scans of either hard to find instruction and more or less all boxes.

But I am not a purist collector. I just want the information. If I can keep the
information in my tablet/PC instead of hugh sets of folders the better it is
for me.

And for the collectors for they can easily keep their hard copies.
