| When leaving a neutral or negative, there really needs to be enough text to explain
the issue.
I could not even fit in a sentence the mentioned that parts were chipped, dirty,
had ball point pen markings and scotch tape residue, without running out of text.
I could not add that the seller did not respond to my inquiry related to this.
When nothing is wrong, the limited text space is plenty.
But when there is an issue, room to describe the issue is needed.

I sure hope this wasn't one of my orders!
Kidding, of course, as I only sell new stuff...but my heart skipped a beat when
I saw one of my recent customers pop up in this thread!
I do agree though...I've had situations where I _REALLY_ wanted to be able to
type a lot more but have been unable to do so.

Your orders have all been good, no issues.
There is someone who often posts to the forum, who I discovered I had marked
as a least favorite, so I had not been seeing their items when I did normal searches.
Recently they had a sale, posted in the forum, and I then went and placed an
order, and it all went very well.
I think that they didn't take paypal back when they first opened, so it was not
a store I was going to buy from, therefore did not want to see their store when
searching.
Now I can't get it to change, I just get an error when I try to delete them from
the least favorite list.
I set some stores as least favorites due to very high minimums (in the thousands
of dollars). I won't know when this changes, as these stores just will not ever
show up when I search.

Sorry, but No.
The reason the field is so limited is so that you can see info at a glance and
quickly. What would be better is the normal 80 character FB, and then the option
to leave an extension, that one can open if they want read more in detail.

Gotta disagree on your "no", sorry. we're speaking about NEGATIVE or neutral
feedback only. And few dozen of characters may not really be enough sometimes..

If a store has multiple negatives, I wan't to be able to look over them quickly,
just a simple summary. I don't want to waste my time reading 5 essays to find
out that the items are bad quality. I can still look at an extension if I want
to.

I could not even fit in a brief 2 words, for each issue.
I am not talking about being able to leave an essay.
Because an essay is more than you want to read, you do not want others to be
able to indicate what the issue is, in a complete sentence?

yep. I rather spend an extra 30 seconds reading "essays" and know EXACTLY what
to expect if I still decide to place an order for that seller.

Some people don't want to read everything, so they don't have to. But if you
want to, you can, after one click.

I've bypassed this feature by doing Bricklink seller reviews on my blog. Unfortunately
I can't link there from the feedback so it's a little hard to find.
Maybe I should consider guest reviews?

Do you indicate, in the feedback comment, that the review is on your blog?
Are you even allowed to do this, with a link?
I never shop starting with a seller (unless they advertised a sale in the forum,
or just sent me a coupon, or something similar).
I start with a search for a specific part, and then from there run my wanted
list through any store my search takes me to.
It is only at this point, I will look at feedback (or not which has been my mistake
more than once).
I have multiple favorite sellers that I know I will get good quality and service
from.
But I also like to try out new sellers, and give them a chance to become a favorite.
However,
Yes you should consider guest reviews.
Maybe you can, in time, become the go-to source for researching a seller.
One thing I never do, is place an order for more than I can afford to lose, with
a seller I have not built up a trust relationship with.
I also hesitate (even with a seller I trust) to have too much value tied up in
one order/shipment.

I'm glad you you didn't feel that my blatant gratuitous post post was hijacking
your thread.
