Hello all I have a situation with a new 0 feedback buyer that their silence is
not helping me to resolve - I am seeking another way to avoid similar problems
in the future.

The situation.

Order 1 placed - picked, marked packed & invoiced (but packet not sealed - I
do not seal until paid).
Order 2 placed - would not add to order 1 due to packed status so new order created.

Order 2 cancelled with 1 message & a note on cancellation by me to say that if
they want to add to Order 1 I have re-set to ready so they can do so.

No communication from buyer since (I have sent 3 emails in 5 days)

This is not an uncommon occurance so I seek a solution.

Could an option on the second order be created for the SELLER ONLY, having re-set
order 1 status to ready to 'add the 2nd order to the 1st order' please.

This would allow order additions to 'packed' orders only at the sellers discretion
and certainly help new buyers (in this case certainly as initially communication
was good and they did want to combine the orders)

Your thoughts please & sorry for the long winded explanation.

Thanks

Andy

Even though I also pack but don't seal the package, I leave the order in "ready"
state until they pay, this allows additions to be added to the order. Once it
is marked as packed, the system is under the impression it is sealed and nothing
more can be added.

I take your point but I do find that many buyers do not pay until the order is
marked packed....

Thanks

How often do you have people not pay until the order is marked as packed? I
don't pack my orders until I am paid, therefore I don't ever change the status
until after I have been paid. On the other hand, as a buyer, I buy when I get
the invoice regardless of what the status is on the order page.

That being said, I think that the best way is just to leave it as ready until
you are actually paid. I think that's the way the system is intended to be used.

You want to merge orders into one.

Why not just pack the second order with the first?
The positive is you might get two feedbacks instead of one.

two paypal payments - twice the fees. - I then have to explain the need for only
one payment & it all gets more complicated - I'm looking for the 'catch all solution'
- not withstanding the 'leave ready until paid solution'

What's wrong with that? That IS correct method and I use it. I pack stuff but
I don't seal package till paid, and set status to "paid" and then "Packed". That
way if person orders again I treat it as separate and new order and I do not
open first order package.

You would have gotten the % based fee regardless, but the transaction fee of
30 cents (or pence), you're right, you'd pay that twice. You could invoice with
30 p added.

Also you could deduct 30 cents from your $1.50 packing fee to pack the second

I agree. You have to charge a more for shipping sense the second order will increase
the weight so you can just add fee to that.

I wouldn't fret too much about it and I definitely would not make a big deal
of it with my customer. The $0.30 fee is just not really worth losing sleep over,
at least to me.

And as mentioned above in a previous post, I too never change the order status
until it is paid for and I have never had a problem with a customer paying. Have
you actually had customers complain that you dont have their order packed before
they pay?

Jim.
