| Given that there is apparently a BrickLink 2.0 in the works, one thing that I
would like to see added is the ability to add comments to catalog listings.
This space could be used for set reviews, links to images showing how particular
parts can be used, notes about uncatalogued variants, historical information,
etc.
This could be an expandable/collapsible link so that it stays tucked away for
those who don't care.

How about an option to hide/ unhide variant parts while browsing the catalogue?
Maybe I don't care to see how many versions of the same piece exists, because
it may or may not have a stud notch, or may or may not have bottom tubes, and
so on.
Unless you can already and I'm missing it!? :p

Now, I would vote for that as well as an option to include / exclude counterparts
when viewing inventories. Because I certainly don't care to look at all those
stickered parts. The sticker sheet is already included in the inventory and on
the off chance I need a stickered part they can all be found by entering the
set number in the search.

You can't currently. But I'm hoping that BL 2.0 sets up the parts database differently
than the current structure. I've checked through my previous suggestions, and
I don't see it, so maybe I never formalized the idea. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.

I like the idea! Like if it came with a storage case only avlb at target or someyhing
like that.
|
Right.
The idea came to me while browsing through the new Superheroes line, and I noticed
the comic books:
The questions that came to mind: how many pages? Are the writers and artists
credited? Is the story about the set that it comes in? Is it any good?
It's not possible for there to actually be fields to enter this data in when
adding the item to the catalog, though. This sort of information belongs in an
informal comment/discussion style layout.
About a year ago, I was looking for some parts that would provide nice spring
action to some MOC ideas I had. I didn't really know what parts might be good
for what. After some experimenting with some parts...
I'm not sure what "triple spring loaded" means, but it would definitely be useful
to let people know what this part actually does. (The round hole take an axle,
and can rotate both directions, with a spring action returning it to the center.
How many degrees can it turn? I'm not sure anymore, as I don't have the part
anymore.)
Here's what I'd add as a comment to this part: "Ooh! I want about 100 of these
to make a computer keyboard MOC!"

There already are Catalog item "Additional Notes" and Inventory "Inventory Notes"
features. And the "Relationships" notes. If they are not being made use of
for a particular item or inventory, the heading on the page doesn't show.
Or did you mean something else? You suggest good uses of such features, but
since adding the info is a Catalog or Inventory Admin function, and their time
is limited, routine use of the features may appear limited to a casual observer.
I assure you, some entries have (or at least had, the last time I spent any
time here) some significant chunks of stuff added.

The feature that I imagine would not be something that would be added by the
admins -- these would get posted by users, with no pre-moderation.
