I think it would be good to add a location to sell original boxes for catalog
items listed under "gear". This would be particularly beneficial for listing
game boxes, right now they must be listed under "custom boxes". Also Pen cases,
video game boxes/cases, etc., could potentially be listed. I don't think many
of these would sell too much, but it would make sense to be able to list them
anyway.

The reason isn't a matter of principle or anything, it's just that when Admin
Dan created the Gear Type, he didn't create concomitant box entries because he
didn't anticipate any of the Gear items coming boxed. And for the most part
they don't. It's only the Set type that is programmed to automatically create
a box entry to go along with it whenever a set is added to the catalog.

Okay that makes sense. Perhaps the Games should be listed under sets then? They
seem more sets than gear anyway, considering they are their own product line,
they contain regular Lego parts, and must be built with instructions. Just a
thought

Of course we looked at that alternative, but the fact is that the games are not
sets, so we won't categorize them as such.

This one I would say is a Set first and Gear second, particularly since it hails
from the era before TLG was producing Gear items right and left.
Maggie
Maybe the current types of games should be revisited as to their type. When Dan
was building this site, games were only the traditional board type games with
a few pieces in them. They could be left in gear.

Hmm, my inclination is to leave the games where they are. They *are* different
than sets (even on the shelves of stores such as Target they are found on different
aisles).
Now it might be possible to create box entries for them in a similar fashion
that instructions entries have been created for certain Gear items, but it would
probably take a back seat to other issues in site development.

Okay that makes sense. If possible I would say that Box entries for certain gear
items would be a good idea, but I understand if that gets put on the back burner,
as I'm sure many other things are more important right now, and demand for these
items are probably very low.
Thanks for clearing things up Maggie
