If I look at the pending items list http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?itemPend=Y&catType=S
, I see that every item has a link to add it to a wanted list.

I want to add http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=3300002-1 so that I
get notified when someone lists it. But I can't. I have to wait until the set
is actually approved. And I can't get a notification of when that happens,
either.

Please make it easier for me, by allowing us to add pending items to wanted lists.
