Increasingly, I've been wondering if the ambitions of some members to achieve
a position on this list are at the root of many of the problems we've been seeing
in the forums lately.
I'd like to suggest that the Top 10 Forum Posters League Table be removed, as
it serves little constructive purpose other than to provide an incentive to those
members who, for whatever reason, are motivated to appear on it.
Please note that I do not mean to imply that all of those who currently appear
on the list desired to be so.

I had the same thought yesterday. So I vote yes.

Why remove it, at one time I was on it and it helped me stop posting so much.

So it actually helped me.

Yes, having it there does incent me to try to "ration" my posts to avoid getting
on it. I have been on there before and have no problem with that, someone will
be at the top, list or no list I suppose. If it has the opposite effect on some
trouble makers then I'd be happy to loose it.

I don't agree, but if it is your desire to turn it from a + to a -, just rename
it "The blabbermouth hall of shame".

Did you also check how the complete list was build?
There are more aspects to it...
Just a few examples:
There are about 40 different topics, with about 40 different results when it
comes down to the top 10...
The -ALL TOPICS- is just an addition of ALL subtopics...
maybe people should explore some more the subtopics before making judgements
about the 'general' result...

That's a very good point. Perhaps if the default view wasn't the "All Topics",
but one more deserving of "league table" accolade such as catalog or inventory
contributions, that would be a step in the right direction.

Every topic has it's purpose, none of them is more 'deserving' then the other,
to avoid favoritism on one topic there is the --All topics-- 'compilation' of
things

Both lists have some usefulness, but neither is absolutely necessary. Being
included on any of the lists may be a motivation for some, but not others. I
don't see the harm in letting either continue to exist.

Yes, this feature is pointless except for minor entertainment.

Really? I guess it's possible, though I would guess that most people who would
treat it that way are likely to be ten years old, and this could help filter
them out!
In any case, I would be fine with removing the list, since it serves no real
purpose. (Other than letting us top posters know that we should stop posting
so much. I tried to restrict myself to just two posts per day last month, so
that I could fall off the list, but I obviously failed miserably!)

I remember when Admin implemeted a chat stats list.
It lasted all of one week and then it got removed - I vote we bring it back
Voted YES. This list has no constructive purpose at all
