Based on the post from BrickChick (http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=483738),
we need a new LEGO Ambassador. With the recent retirement of Troy from the BL
"Community Overseer" role, I'd like to suggest that we formally recognize whoever
is selected as Ambassador as the equivilent of the Community Overseer role.
We could rename it "Ambassador" in BrickLink.
Here's why I think this is valuable -- this would allow the BL community to easily
find their Ambassador (http://www.bricklink.com/memberAdmins.asp) so they can
more easily interact with TLG through that person. It also gives the selected
Ambassador the approriate community recognition for the work that they perform.

Did you ask Jenn first? Troy left the position as it was too demanding. I imagine
as an ambassador she may feel she is busy enough. Also as the ambassador is
not selected by Admin he may not be thrilled about handing over the keys to candidate.
It's a neat idea, but I'm not sure it's doable.

I like the idea of formally recognizing the ambassador, but I don't think the
community overseer position is really suitable. You'd essentially be putting
this person in charge of both the forums and chat, in addition to the ambassadorial
duties.

Sounds like I should have titled this REPLACE Community Overseer with Ambasssador.
If there were any Admin capabilities for that old role that are not approriate,
they could be removed. I was focusing on the community recognition aspect.

I voted YES!
But as per my post today I think there is a need for a different person to be
named to the position. Preferably someone more active on Bricklink than I have
been as of late (sorry about that guys...I didn't expect my schedule to er...
blossom as it has this past year)
Also I think it may be wise to have a specific length of term set for the new
person so more people can get a shot at the post. I'd hate to see anyone burn
out on duties like this. It can happen! LOL
Just my two cents.
And if you ask for my nomination for the first term it would hands down be Tracy
at Brickathon! She (and Chris) have been a big help to me this year in keeping
on top of forum posts and such during my many absences. I think she'd be an excellent
choice for the post...but I haven't talked to her about that....she may not thank
me for mentioning this! LOL
I think regardless of whether the vote on this thread goes through there should
be another started with nominations for who is well suited to the position when
I abdicate.
I am not sure it would be wise to have one person do both. The workload would
be a bit much.

Before I read Troy's post, my recommendation was the opposite of the suggestion,
that the Community Overseer is the Ambassador, not the other way around. But
if it's too much work, then they should remain two separate entities.
However, if a suggestion came up to highlight the ambassador on their profile
page, I could go for that.

A little late, but I highly agree with this. I’m bumping it so we can get this
back into discussion. We for real need someone to be the voice to TLG. At this
point, I feel like TLG bought BL just to be able to say they own it. They don’t
care about us, and couldn’t care less about what the users want. I think we need
someone to be able to talk to TLG and voice what BL is wanting. Great idea! Hopefully
it can get implemented now that I have it bumped up! 😊
(Again, a LITTLE late 🤣)
