To save sellers cutting open packaging of new parts to discover/confirm what's
inside, let's store the numbers for part packages in the catalog - then it's
just a matter of a Catalog Search and the number printed on the outside is translated
into a part number.
That way a package of string doesn't have to be unwound to discover that it's
a 50cm long piece, etc.

Yes! We have all sorts of alternate numbers, relationships, etc., so whey not
these box numbers? I have to add the box number to the remarks field when I
part out sets so I won;t have to open it. This would be an easy time saver.

Hi,
there are also part packages which contain multiple parts.
This info then also would have to be stored somewhere.
A "part package" neither is a part, nor a set.
Where could/should such infos be displayed?
Any ideas?

It could be treated as a part with an inventory. If we require that all parts
be listable in a store, we would need a new part category ("part package" works)
Or it could be a new main category, to join Sets, Parts, Gear, etc.

Still a good idea.
A google search for: "4580664 LEGO " helped me find this thread - so, I guess
still a good idea
