The first time we were introduced to the glow-in-the-dark ghost minifigure was in 1990 with the set Black Monarch’s Ghost. This is my tribute to that set, titled Black Monarch’s Crypt 👻

The crypt design was inspired by the Black Knight castle architecture and colours. I included some stickers that utilize the original Black Knight imagery as well as updated colouring from the recent remake set, the Sea Serpent. Flags, the knight, and the horse all make an appearance here. I even included ornamental birds atop the roof since the original 90s set came with a dark grey bird. And the last tribute piece is the most important, the Ghost Minifig!👻

There is a clear bar included that will allow the ghost to float above the set. Attach it to one of the trees or the conveniently placed clip on the roof to display the ghost flying through the sky.👻

There are some other play features such as a removable roof and a functional stone coffin, however I tried to focus on storytelling. I included a few elements that could be mistaken for a ghost. Perhaps the ghost isn’t real and it’s just imagination running wild. There is a pale green statue overlooking the cemetery. A large white owl is perched on a treetop. There is a statue of the Black Monarch illuminated only by torchlight. The groundskeeper clangs his bucket and shovel, while the caretaker is dressed all in white holding a lantern that can trick the eyes from a distance. And if you open the coffin, you will be greeted by a spooky skeleton!💀
