CYBERSTREET is a project inspired by the MOC New Hashima and the cyberpunk genre in general, but also by the visual worlds of Earth-928 and Earth-42 from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. I really liked the way these universes mix strong colors, gritty environments and highly stylized architecture, and I wanted to bring some of that feeling into a LEGO build.

I started the build with the base surrounding the buildings. I wanted it to have a more original shape and give the whole model its own identity. Originally, I planned for the base to go all the way around the entire structure, but the piece limit forced me to rethink that idea. Staying within the part limit was actually one of the biggest challenges of the project. I constantly had to find new ways to build certain sections while keeping the piece count under control, and several ideas eventually had to be simplified or removed altogether.

To recreate the lighting and atmosphere of a cyberpunk city, I used translucent pieces throughout the build to create different glowing elements and pops of color. I also used several shades on the walls to give them a more worn and weathered appearance, rather than making everything look too clean and uniform. There are also a few NPU (Nice Parts Usage) hidden throughout the build — see if you can spot them!

I wanted the overall design to feel stylized, detailed and polished, inspired by some of the recent MOCs I have seen online, while still avoiding overly complicated building techniques. Finding the right balance between an interesting design and relatively simple construction was an important part of the process.

Since CYBERSTREET is designed in the style of a modular building, I had to make some compromises when it came to playability. Instead, I focused more on the height, exterior silhouette and especially the interiors, making each area feel distinct and packed with details.

The building is divided into four main sections:

a Japanese street food area;
a music store;
a cargo container;
an apartment.

Each section has its own atmosphere and details, creating a small but lively slice of a futuristic cyberpunk city.
