Welcome to the Governor's Estate.

The Governor lives to hear stories of those who lived to tell their tale, all who share may be welcomed.

This regal estate was built before the days of independance, certainly still fit for a king. The complex features a Garden with ornate flower displays and statues for heroes of the country. An open air breeze flows through the walkway of cloistered arcades with a view of the estate grounds. Inside the complex features a grand entrance leading to a quaint piano and the humble quarters of the gardener.

The second floor is home to the Governor's crown jewel, or rather treasures.... belonging to the crown. In the gallery sits golden coins, a model ship, a treasure map, and items plundered from all around. When it is time to stop admiring the loot, the second floor also features an expanisve kitchen an adequately sized dining room to match.

Upon the roof the gardener works to grow the right flowers for whatever arrangement the Governor's wife demands. Fortunately from up here is the second best view. Second only to the central balcony of course.

Story:

The story behind this build is one of longing. The governor has invited over pirates to share the stories he never got to experience, much to the chagrin of his wealthy family. His wife puts up with him, but their son is a truly worried skeptic, though his sister very much enjoys the stories of a handsome swashbuckler and his matey too. I think this governor is worthy of sharing a world with your pirates at home and would be happy to see them.

Design and Ideation:

The idea for this building began with a trip to Mexico in 2026. I find Spanish and Mediterranean architecture to be so fascinating and open air. This building in particular takes inspiration from the Palacio Nacional in Mexico City, most notably with the central carved balcony and shaping around the roof. Secondly this building takes inspiration from the Zapopan Basilica in Guadalajara. This is most obvious in the arcaded walkway out front. I actually started building when I figured out a good way to have a different color inside the edges of the arches, as well as a way to replicate the particular angle a walkway like this has on the roof.

But I won't spoil the build of course! That is for you to discover!

I had a lot of fun designing and building this model. I find Bricklink studio very freeing as I can use all the new moulds and colors available that I often don't own in my own collection. I hope that you may find interesting parts in this build as much as I did!

This is my first ever submission to the BDP Program, so I am all ears to advice and opinions. Please let me know!

Thank you so much for reading,
