We all need a vacation in Italy – my “Mediterranean street scene”

This is my rework from my first submission from the BDP series 11. The set is now somehow presented in a simplified form. I reduced detail but kept the unique feeling of the design. My first design can be found on rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-265123/SebastianFink/mediterranean-street-scene/#details

About the build

The former fishing village of “Burano” is one of the most beautiful attractions in the Venetian Lagoon of Italy. In my opinion, it’s even lovelier than Venice itself. Every time I visit, I am enchanted by its cheerful charm and its many brightly colored houses.

My vision was to combine a colorful Mediterranean-style canal street with a fun and lively minifigure scene—one that reflects the bustling and vibrant vacation experience of a tourist. At the same time, the design of the build was intended to offer many creative display options.

The set includes 11 minifigures, plenty of animals, and 6 small stickers.

3-in-1 presentation options / fits in your city

The scene is designed to offer you 3 different display options:

The build can be displayed lengthwise as a long canal.
The two separate baseplates can be placed facing each other to create a highly authentic Mediterranean canal scene.
The two canal sections can also be integrated into a LEGO city layout independently of each other.

Minifigure scenes

The build features many lively scenes with carefully selected characters and their little stories:

- Alberto sees a toy boat bobbing along the canal and tries to catch it.

- Maria is about to spend some of her pocket money at the toy vending machine hoping for another spectacular toy.

- Umberto and Francesco play enchanting Italian melodies on their instruments and we can hear their music drifting through the canal.

- The fisherman is about to unload his morning catch and realizes that Tina has taken one of his fish to feed the cats.

- The cats smell the fish that Tina offers and run to the spot so fast that they throw Luigi, who holds a tablet with coffee mugs, off balance and one of the coffee mugs falls to ground.

- Timothy hangs the laundry and enjoys the elevated view of the beautiful canal.

- Laura and Tim enjoy their Italian icecream.

- Marta enjoys the view from her window.
