🍂 Fiesta Día de los Muertos

Fiesta Día de los Muertos is a vibrant and joyful tribute to one of the most colorful and meaningful celebrations in Mexican culture: a celebration not of death, but of life, memory, and the bonds that connect us.

This project began with an extensive research phase, based on several hundred visual references collected and organized on a dedicated Miro board. Through this process, we explored the richness of traditional decorations, architectural details, color palettes, and symbolic elements of the celebration, such as flowers, music, and festive characters.

The goal was not to faithfully reproduce reality, but rather to capture its spirit, energy, and emotion.

Before moving into digital modeling, several elements were physically prototyped to experiment with different building techniques, test their stability, and explore potential play features. In parallel, concept art was developed to define the project’s visual direction, composition, and storytelling.

This iterative approach allowed us to find the right balance between creative ambition and realistic building constraints.

The final model, designed in BrickLink Studio, consists of approximately 2,666 pieces, including 8 minifigures and 2 skeleton characters, offering a wide range of play and storytelling possibilities.

Special attention was given to movement and interaction, with several play features such as a rotating kiosk and a parade float that can be arranged in different dynamic positions.

The set is built around a large festive parade, brought to life within an environment inspired by Mexican architecture. It includes:

a taco restaurant with a living space;
a bell tower marking the entrance to the village;
a small mausoleum scene.

Together, these different elements create a cohesive narrative environment where celebration and remembrance coexist.

Color also plays a central role in the design. A bold and expressive palette combining purple, orange, and red was carefully selected to create a strong visual identity while reflecting the energy and symbolism of Día de los Muertos.

Beyond its visual richness, the project was designed as a hybrid experience:

A display model, with a strong composition and easily recognizable silhouettes.
A modular playset, featuring interactive elements and offering numerous possibilities for storytelling and creative staging.

Ultimately, Fiesta Día de los Muertos is an invitation to celebrate, remember, and share a LEGO® brick interpretation of a tradition where joy, color, and memory come together to honor those who came before us.
