We all need a peaceful place to rest. So gather your friends and come to Aquafall in Solcrest!

About the design process

This place grew out of endless summer days by the rivers of southern France, and out of the landscapes of the game worlds I love. During the design and build of this set, I kept asking myself one question: would I actually want to be a minifig in this imaginary world? The challenge was to arrive at a design where fantasy blends with everyday life. What I arrived at is a quiet scene: a spot to swim, sit by the fire, eat with the people you care about, and learn from the magic and history held in the land. I’m especially happy with how the water, the rock formations, and the back entrance (Rosethorn Passage) came out.

The lore of Pavilion Aquafall

Long ago, the free noble red griffin, named Rosethorn fell under the spell of a wicked sorcerer, twisting him into the fearsome, pitch-black wyvern Vantaloch. High in Solcrest, on an age-worn elven fortress, a hero fought the darkness across its graceful arcs. With one last blow, Vantaloch shattered stone and tumbled down, cracking open an old spring. Waters gushed, swallowed valley and ruin alike. Later, brave adventurers sailed those still depths, found the broken beauty, rebuilt her as The Sacred Sanctuary of Solcrest, now known as Pavilion Aquafall. These days it’s alive with laughter, splashing swimmers, feasting hearts, and fireside whispers of the past.

Take a deep breath and sing a long with:

The Ballad of Rosethorn’s Tears

In elder days when stars were few,

Above the peaks of silver dew,

There flew a griffin bold and red,

Rosethorn the Bright, the elves all said.

His wings were dawn, his heart was flame,

And every child knew Rosethorn’s name.

Oh Rosethorn, Rosethorn, guardian of the sky,

Carry our laughter where the bright birds fly!

But darkness came without a sound,

A shadow old as the world is round.

It wrapped his wings in starless night,

Stole every spark of crimson light.

A wyvern rose with a hollow roar.
The sound of Vantaloch, cold and sore.

Oh Rosethorn, Rosethorn, where did you go?

Lost in the black where no warm winds blow…

At Solcrest’s spires the final stand,

Elven blades and mortal hand.

The mountain shook, the heavens cried,

And in that hour Vantaloch died

Yet as he fell, his heart broke free,

An bright blue spring burst like a sea.

Tears for Rosethorn, tears for Rosethorn,

A lake was born when the griffin was torn!

The fortress sank, the waters rose,

Only the tallest tower peak still shows.

New folk came in later years,

Built white pavilions over the tears.

They feast, they swim, they laugh, they sing,

And call the waters a gentle thing.

Rosethorn’s Tears, Rosethorn’s Tears,

Warm as forgiveness, bright as cheers!

Though darkness took him for a while,

His heart still shines in every smile.

So raise your voice and have no fears

We live and love in Rosethorn’s Tears!

And when the moon is round and high,

Look close… a single feather drifts by

Still crimson, still glowing, still true.

The guardian waits beneath the blue.
