I am attempting to download a wanted list. All that the download button produces
is an XML file unreadable to any app I own. I there a way to download it into
something else? Thanks.

The best one for 20 years!
Free open source, you don't even have to download from BL, do it from the
application.
As a Buyer I'm not sure you can direct download, try it.
Otherwise download the XML and do a simple File open, BrickStore witll open it.
