Hi. I received some really dirty/scratched up 8 x 16 flat plates on a recent
model. I want to replace them and cannot tell if these plates are 'smooth
(#4974)' or 'textured (#90498)'. The last image is from this site
and has a wavy look to it under 'smooth'. I imagine smooth or textured
could be polished. Can you tell? Thank you!

I'd go with 4974 as they don't have the sprue mark right in the middle.
The two I've seen are on the side. This could just be the factory I got mine
from.

I have several of the "textured" version, they're fairly matte in
appearance. Those are definitely smooth/4974.
