Just got an email from BrickLink titled “One last update before 2026.” I read
it with a mix of disappointment and disbelief.
While it speaks at length about “community,” “good intentions,” and improving
communication, it completely ignores the most significant and painful change
many of us are facing right now: the removal of 35 countries from the BrickLink
marketplace. For users in those countries, this is not a minor adjustment or
a temporary inconvenience. It is the loss of access altogether.
What makes this even harder to accept is that this step was taken without any
clear or reasonable explanation. Entire countries are being removed, yet no transparent
justification has been provided to those affected.
Framing the past year as one of foundations, rebuilding, and appreciation for
the community, while avoiding any direct acknowledgment of people who are about
to be cut off, feels deeply disrespectful. If this omission was intentional,
it comes across as dismissive. If it was meant to be implied delicately, it only
makes it feel more insulting.
Many of us are not sellers dealing with regulatory complexity. We are buyers,
paying customers, and passionate builders for whom BrickLink has been essential,
often the only viable source for parts, especially in regions without access
to LEGO Pick a Brick or LEGO.com shipping.
The letter itself acknowledges that communication, timing, and transparency have
often missed the mark. Unfortunately, this message is a clear example of that.
Talking about community while silently excluding parts of it undermines the very
values BrickLink claims to uphold.
If BrickLink truly values its global community, then this issue deserves to be
addressed openly, clearly, and respectfully, not avoided in a year end message.
I felt the need to share my thoughts on this.
