Please can I ask what is the point of this integration?
Considering that Bricklink was hacked in the not too distant past, isn't
it prudent to keep both logins seperate to reduce the risk/potential fallout
if this happens again? To be honest, I've had Bricklink and LEGO accounts
for 10+ years each and am quite happy to remember/use different IDs and passwords
- it's not overly burdensome.
Also, I'm not sure about what is effectively an ultimatum in the email -
if you don't comply, your account will be deleted/removed? Is this an appropriate
way to treat your fans/customers?
Please can I ask what is the point of this integration?
Lego owns both, they want to reduce any potential security issues, having 2 separate
login systems opens more potential vulnerabilities then having 1. Also it legitimizes
bricklink more by showing lego brand stuff during login, not having to have multiple
accounts, etc

Bricklink was not hacked, several accounts were phished and used to make it seem
like a hack, but to my knowledge neither Lego nor bricklink have been hacked
in regards to user account

having 2 separate login systems opens more potential vulnerabilities then having 1
Really? Having 2 separate logins that have different passwords and usernames
is more vulnerable then when you're forced to shove all of your details into
a single shared login spanning across two different sites?
What a load of rubbish!
Currently if there is a security breach on either site, the hackers would only
gain access to my account/details on that one site. With this forced integration
rubbish they'll now gain access on both... and that's somehow going to
"reduce any potential security issues"?
All this does, is make it easier for malicious actors to gain access to MULTIPLE
accounts.
For example, Lego.com has my phone number and credit card details. BrickLink
has neither. So if BrickLink was to be hacked in the next month, not only would
my credit card be safe, but I also wouldn't have to worry about an increase
in calls from "Steve from the technical department of the Windows Computer
Company" because BrickLink has neither and my username and password on Lego.com
is different.
But if BrickLink were to be hacked after this stupid integration is forced upon
us, the hackers would be able to gain access to my Lego account and access to
my credit card details and phone number... and the $200+ worth of Insider Points,
because it's the same login.
So, using your brain and being honest... how is that safer?
not having to have multiple accounts
And what if I want multiple accounts? What if I understand that having multiple
accounts is like using different keys for different locks, instead of just using
the same key for every lock? What if I genuinely despise this absolutely stupid
idea that combining everything in to a single thing is "safe"?
All any of this is, is scummy corporate rubbish on Lego's part.

If bricklink was hacked, they wouldn't get access to your LEGO Account since
that data is on the login server and not on bricklink.

Yes, if you have 1 login system, made decades ago and maintained by just several
people which has problems almost everyday for users, and you have a login system
that has been crafted and maintained by a large group of people and is known
for tracking duplicate accounts, etc, then it’s better to have them all on the
1 more secure site

Almost everyone who has a bricklink account, also has a Lego account. Unless
I’m fundamentally misunderstanding stored payment methods, Lego does not
store your credit card info on their servers, but rather its stored with a 3rd
parties secure storage involving many security measures for legal compliance,
so a Lego breach wouldn’t necessarily breach payment details. Also pretty much
all the private details are the same between the 2, email, address, phone number,
etc. I’m trying to think of any info I have on the lego site that isn’t on my
bricklink account and I can’t think of any.

It’s what was formerly known as the “VIP Program.” You can look up “LEGO Insiders
Program” in your favorite search engine to get more info….

Data mining?

They won’t get any more of your personal info than what they already have / than
what they can already get. In other words: they already know everything about
you.

Eventually, your LEGO Account nickname will become your public username on BrickLink. This change will not happen on September 18th, 2025 during LEGO Account integration but will happen in the months after the integration. If your current username or store name doesn’t meet our guidelines for LEGO Account nicknames, we recommend updating it as soon as possible to secure your preferred name.
Does this mean that our store name will become our Lego.com nickname? or are
our username and store name's still separate?

Does this mean that our store name will become our Lego.com nickname? or are
our username and store name's still separate?
No, they should still be separate but the store name has to follow the same rules
as the nickname (no “LEGO”, no personal info, no brands, no offense, etc.).
So the question is: When will sellers be able to check their store name is okay?
Because some nicknames that should have been okay have already been rejected….
So the question is: When will sellers be able to check their store name is okay?
That would be great and helpful.
I assume, a lot of stores will try to integrate their accounts, just to be rejected
because their store names don't match the "rules".
I wonder how LEGO will check them.
In my case, my username here and at lego.com should be fine, i wasn't very
creative at the time. Nickname is the same.
But my Store Name might be against the rules.
Besides the 'Brick' it has also a location in it: 'Vienna Brick Depot'
The rules say:
"A nickname can’t contain a reference to specific geographical locations
or sports clubs that could potentially reveal identifiable information"
Will the same rules apply to Store Names? Is Vienna too specific. Will 'Brick'
be ok? I don't know and i'll probably won't until the integration
take effect.
I'm curious, but i expect a fun fall here in the forum, with a lot of angry
posts.
I assume, a lot of stores will try to integrate their accounts, just to be rejected

I wonder how LEGO will check them.
The simple answer is we don't know and some have been caught out for rather
bizarre reasons. I fully agree that any names using LEGO (or similar get-arounds
like L3GO and LEG0), bricklink, BlackFalcons, StarWars, etc and other names like
superuser and admin should be banned as usernames.
Whereas first names are hardly identifiable unless they are very rarely used.
TomsBricks, DicksBricks or HarrysBricks wouldn't give out enough information
to identify a person any more than TBricks, DBricks or HBricks. "Dick Picks
Bricks" does have a nice ring to it.
In my case, my username here and at lego.com should be fine, i wasn't very
creative at the time. Nickname is the same.
But my Store Name might be against the rules.
Besides the 'Brick' it has also a location in it: 'Vienna Brick Depot'
It might do, but then presumably there should be enough people in Vienna not
to give away who you are from the name alone. But then if you called yourself
Wien Brick Depot would they even notice the location? Maybe you will need to
go up a level and call yourself the Austrian Brick Depot.
It does all get a bit silly when names are blocked for not so obvious reasons
and the reasons are not given by a human so that they are understandable.
We may well end up with stores like CatGreenPizza7348, named after favourite
animal, colour, food and a random number. Not so good for recognition.
But then if you called yourself Wien Brick Depot would they even notice
Probably not, but would anyone recognice 'Wien" besides the few Austrians
ordering?
Maybe i could go with 'Wine"
You can try Vienne. It’s French for Wien… plus the name of a river, of a département,
and of town in France (actually multiple towns/villages).
(Vienne, the town, isn’t in Vienne, the département, but the Vienne river is.)

Thanks, but still locations...
Btw. "Wien" is also the name of a "river" flowing through our
city. It's almost one foot deep most of the year.
Sadly, I’m not sure there’s anything to be proud about.
A big mess and a lot of deaths, just because a handful of persons wanted to rule
over the people (first Louis XVI, Metternich, Franz II, etc., then Napoléon).
So the question is: When will sellers be able to check their store name is okay?
That would be great and helpful.

I live in San Tan Valley and i tried to change my name to SanTanStud. It was
immediately rejected by the system but it allowed me to appeal. I appealed and
this was the response below. I even talked to CS afterwards and they couldn't
give me a reason, only saying that name is not allowed. I don't see any inadvertent
bad words just santa. Maybe stud isn't allowed but that's not trademarked.
[…]
I guess they trained / used and LLM/AI to check the first application.
They have had these filters for ages, they don’t need to use a crappy & expensive
LLM for that.
Ask any current LLM to count letters/digits in a word and see how accurate they
are. It’s way simpler to have a simple algorithm check the rules than use a
“generic” language model to “understand” (big quotes) your rules and fail to
apply them.
No, it’s simply that the algo is “conservative” / too strict. That reduces potential
problems further and doesn’t increase the number of appeals much.
Then if it doesn't pass you can appeal and have an human being who will check.
This way they're saving 80% of human time / salary.
Way more than that: who appeals? Not 20% of people. They just try something
else.
I have my Lego account and my bricklink account under separate email addresses.
Should I change my Lego account email or just create another Lego account with

of this integration.
Also my username obviously is my actual name…..so many others that are in a similar
situation….this is really unfortunate! Why not just have an age verification
for simple names like that?

But it’s also in my LEGO username, so they could have easily noticed that my

As this one is coming up time and time again, it would be good if they could
make a post to say the word BRICKS is the issue (and possibly why they have banned
it). Otherwise it seems they could get a lot of appeals and more messages for
their customer service agents to either approve or to parrot the same thing back,
whichever way they decide to go.

to respond to both the good and the bad. If it's happening to their advanced
users who know what's what and how to work this system, then how is the experience
going to be for the average BrickLink member? I do actually care what happens
around here so...
We know you’ve been asking about LEGO® Account integration, and we’re here to
share the details with you.
Coming September 18th, 2025, LEGO Account integration will create a single
sign-in experience for both LEGO.com and BrickLink.com. You’ll have until December
31st, 2025, to integrate your accounts.
You’ll need to integrate your BrickLink account and LEGO Account starting September
18th, 2025, to continue signing into BrickLink . If you choose not to integrate
your accounts by December 31st, 2025, your BrickLink account will be deactivated.
In markets where the LEGO Group offers the LEGO Insiders program, a LEGO Account
is created as part of signing up for LEGO Insiders.
As part of the account integration, we’ve also updated our Bricklink Terms of
Service. You can read the new Terms of Service, which will go into effect September
18th, 2025, here: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/terms_of_service.page.

Can you just tell the membership if Store Names with the word "Brick"
or "Bricks" in them will or will not be permitted to remain after September

To be precise:
— BL usernames are limited to 15 characters, and don’t allow spaces.
— LEGO nicknames are limited to 25 characters, and allow spaces.
My guess is that the rules for BL usernames will change.
Notes:
— The dash (-) is authorized on LEGO but the BL help page (https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=68)
doesn’t say it is authorized in BL username… but it apparently is as many use
it.
— The at-sign (@) isn’t listed either… but someone is using it (clearly, their
username is an email address, good job BL).
— Also, BL says [a-z] and LEGO says “letter”, so diacritics and non-Latin letters
would be authorized on LEGO. I’ll let you find the differences between “SylvainLS”
and “ЅуlvаіnLЅ”….

If BrickLink deactivates my account, will that deactivation touch my LEGO.com
account in any way? I'm mostly curious if deactivation causes the deletion
of my LEGO insider points, wanted lists, and order info that will happen if I
unregister/delete my BL account after 9/18.

As far as I understand, they aren’t exactly “merging all the accounts,” they
are asking us to have a LEGO Identity account that we will link to our BrickLink
accounts.
So, in practice:
— You have an account on LEGO, Ideas, Builder app, LEGO games…, they all share
the same LEGO Identity.
— You have a LEGO BrickLink account.
— From Sept. 18th, you’ll be invited to link your BL account to a LEGO
Identity.
You then have two choices:
1. You don’t link your BL account with any LEGO Identity. Your BL account will
be deleted on Dec. 31st.
Nothing happens to your (other) LEGO accounts.
2. You link your BL account with a[/a] LEGO Identity.
— It can be your current LEGO Identity.
— Or it can a new LEGO Identity (with a different email than the one in your
current LEGO Identity).
And from then, logging on BL will go through identity.lego.com and your BL
username will be the LEGO ID nickname. Nothing else changes.
