I've had 10 PayPal Paid-pending orders in last 3 days. Now I've had to

I'm one of the 10 and this is ridiculous! Bricklink needs to get its house
in order! The main purpose of this site is to facilitate the buying and selling
of Lego between individuals. With the current broken system this can't be
done.
Also, the absence of long time voices of Bricklink associates ie Randy, Russell,
and others in the forum is troubling. They would at least explain the issue.
Now days you don't hear from anyone other than equally frustrated buyers
& sellers!
Also, the absence of long time voices of Bricklink associates ie Randy,
I don't think Randy can do anything about this. He is an unpaid community-based
catalogue expert.
As for the title, is this affecting everyone? It seems all or at least many of
the issues are USA users. Obviously that is a significant chunk of the market
but possibly indicative that it might be due to specific bank issues through
PayPal and out of BL's control. Still, it doesn't look good.

According to a different message, PayPal confirmed it was on bricklinks end.
At this point Im ready to stop accepting Paypal payments. Surely sales will drop,
but my reputation as a store is more important. Bricklink needs to get on this.
Their silence is deafening.

Yes, but PayPal "confirming" it isn't really meaningful ("it's
on their end because they didn't update their code when we rolled out a huge
change"

On the 'other' site, we actually get paid for orders. This one- not so
much.

I've not had a single issue with paypal payments. I find it interesting that
the ones who have, have had so many issues.

That's how I felt, but then this weekend it started happening to me and I
have several "paid-pending" orders. Now I'm a part of a growing
list of sellers who get to experience the frustration.

Do you know if there are any links between the ones going to pending? Type of
payment, direct from bank, certain card, etc.

I'm wondering if it depends on OUR account. I know in the past I haven't
had paypal issues that others have, because I never switched to a business account.

I think my point still stands. Clearly not every business account is affected.
The question is are personal ones affected.

I have a hybrid personal/business account (according to the Paypal guy I just
got off the phone with). There are still links on my Paypal to upgrade to a
business account.

Well perhaps my nearly two weeks off was timed perfectly.
I'll just close and leave on my page active the "other" lego site
if it becomes a problem here.

Does anyone have any updates? FYI those payments will never go through.
After 24 hours, the status will change to ready automatically. Resend an invoice
with Stripe as the payment method (if you have Stripe set up). Communicate with
your buyer, too.

We must continue to make this platform great, despite being hindered by BL itself
and the lack of a resolution to a problem that an online selling platform should
have the expertise to solve.

I have added a banner on my store pages to encourage the use of Stripe instead
of PayPal to prevent delays in receiving orders- most orders today have been
via Stripe. Some PayPal yet too, with the dreaded Paid-Pending status and some
without.

It may have worked that way for you, but it hasn't for me. I currently have
4 that are hanging in the Paid-Pending status since Friday. I've now lost
1 of those purchases with a buyer who was frustrated and cancelled their order.
I don't care who's at fault; this needs to be fixed. It reflects poorly
on the sellers, on Brick and on LEGO.
Our current procedure is once a paid-pending appears, go to PayPal as soon as
possible - no need to wait since the payment will never come through - and find
the transaction.
It will show as pending or expired in PayPal. Once you click on it you will have
the option to click void.
After that, it will sometimes take a couple of minutes to feed back through to
Bricklink but you should see the status change from paid-pending to ready.
At this point we message our buyer with a saved response explaining that Stripe
is the better option and then under edit order we change the payment method to
Stripe. We are then able to re-invoice them with a Stripe invoice that allows
them to pay as they would if they initially chose it. Sometimes even using Stripe
to accept their PayPal debit card.
If it further helps, a copy of our message to the buyer is below. We have successfully
converted 20+ paid-pending at this point and only lost about 5 to cancellation
requests.
Thanks again for your order. The payment fell into the PayPal paid-pending glitch
that BrickLink is currently experiencing. I am sorry this happened to you, as
we have about half of our PayPal payments currently getting stuck. The best/only
solution we have found so far is to switch the order to Stripe (credit card)
payment. Hopefully this is an option for you. I will switch it in the system
and send a new invoice. Let me know if you have any questions.
I accept stripe when resending the invoice how do I choose to send it via stripe???

I too have had to stop accepting Paypal. I know my sales will go down, but my
reputation as a seller is more important. Such a shame that BL and TLG remain
silent on this issue. We deserve better.

They said they are working on the issue, tho in bricklink time, it may be a little
I’m currently at 29 orders that are pending payment from PayPal. Only had a few
cancelled so far.
I reached out to support yesterday and today I got a generic response like they
don’t know it’s a issue
I can validate this claim personally because I was one of the customers who
placed an order(s) yesterday to his store and had issues with payment pending.
The day prior, had no trouble with placing 3 BL orders all with PayPal Onsite.
What the heck are you guys doing Bricklink?? PayPal??
PS thank you to skratzer12 for you cooperation with the original order during
this mess.
