For those of you out there that accurately describe the things you sell and properly
label them as used or new, you're alright. You do this community a great
service and I'd have no issues spending money in your store if you happen
to have something I need or want.
For those of you that stretch the truth about the condition of your goods or
purposely mislabel used goods as new, can you not? I know this is a bit of a
rant, but as a buyer, when I place an order in your store for goods labelled
as new, I am placing trust in you the seller to be honest and forthright about
what you're trying to sell me. If I place an order for something labelled
as new, I do not want it to have obvious signs of use. I do not want there to
be scratches more than what is typical for long term storage, and I certainly
do not want there to be teeth marks or dirt on them.
I just got more parts in and there's signs of use. This is a breach of the
trust I put in that store when I placed an order with them. One of the parts
was over $7.00, so it's among one of the most egregious abuses I've encountered,
especially from an established seller with several thousand positive feedback.
Look, I get it. We're human and we make mistakes. I cannot fault sellers
if they accidentally upload used parts as new. But this is becoming a reoccurring
issue, with half the orders I place ending up like this. When do I give in
from always giving the benefit of the doubt and just say that sellers know full
well that they're selling used as new? Is it fair to those few who made an
honest mistake because a lot of others did underhanded things?
I shouldn't have to do this. I'm always polite and reach out about the
issue for some sort of resolution and only resort to negative feedback as a last
resort. That's time out of my day I have to worry if the seller will be defensive
and fight me. I don't want to have to deal with that and I don't think
anyone else does, either. I also shouldn't have to keep least favoriting
stores because that limits my options and hurts your sales long term. Both parties
lose.
I don't know. I apologize for this, but I'm just not sure what to do
anymore since this keeps happening.
When markets get flooded by new sellers AND buyers, quality standards are going
down massively due to the race for profit. How marginally limited they become.
As greed is part of human character, it is unavoidable.
Whether intentional or not, you know you should always contact the sellers about
it when this occurs. It takes time, but I trust that is the only way to fight
this beast.
And still, you know most of your ordered parts do fullfill your expectations
.

Sorry to hear this.
Perhaps you should try to return from those sellers who did list their items
accurately.
I correctly list my items new/used. Always. I don't recall any mistake I
made. Besides the a few mistakes I have made, the overall quality of my listings
are as described.
I also didn't have this issue with other sellers I ordered from, but I nearly
always order used parts.

Happened to me apparently a few years ago when I bought out some remaining inventory
of a store that was closing. I only deal with new so I bought up as much of
the rare stuff as I could. It was so much that after inspecting most of it and
finding no problems I put all the rest in to storage including 3x of the SP001's
which I left in the poly bags.
Then Christmas of last year rolls around and someone ordered one. If you know
me, you now how anal retentive I am. Since the previous seller's handwriting
(on the bags) was different than mine, I went to move it to a new bag and when
I did I noticed some "wrinkles" on the side of the torso. Upon closer
inspection it appears that someone in the past had used modeling glue to suture
up a crack in the torso. I looked at the other two and they too had glue used
on them to either attach the legs permanently or the whole fig. I messaged the
seller and told them I had to cancel the order because I couldn't in good
conscience sell these to them as new and I chucked them in parts bin for the
next buy back event.
Point being, two different people handled the same piece two very different ways,
either on purpose or by accident. Even brand new parts can come with blemishes
but wear is a different story. The best you can do is try for a refund and least
favorite the stores that do this practice. Sometimes they'll stop list you
just for accusing them of selling used as new so the problem fixes itself.
I am amazed by the fact that there are stores with only 93% positive feedback
that are still operational. Proof that most people don’t look at feedback, perhaps.
One store in particular that sent me horrible parts (labeled as new) is still
operational a year later with 93% positive feedback.

I’ve come to the conclusion that people just look at the feedback number and
not the praise percentage. I’m guilty of doing this when I started and I still
do it. Pics of the figs attached as well as pics of a package I received this
month from a brickowl store with 5000+ feedback. There was no padding. Just
a regular mailer bag with a paper label taped up around it.

That minifig wasn't sold as new was it?
Unfortunately yes. Three of them. On the outside the print was in amazing condition,
the backs were still extremely high gloss, the helmets and visors were pristine,
but the necks... The necks always give up their secrets.

Tho with the necks in older figures, since some had the head attached from lego,
if it was removed at a later date, it could arguably be listed as “new unassembled”
if taken apart but the neck print could have wear (tho based on the other pic
I agree yours is 100% used)

I'm not angry about it or anything. Even after I removed them from inventory
and basically threw them away, I still had such a deep discount that I came out
ahead on the entire purchase. But that's the viewpoint of a store and a
business owner.
In the OP's case if they're a straight buyer their viewpoint is (should
be) that they got duped by a sheister and might turn them off from making any
more large purchases on the site.
