I am trying to upgrade to a seller. I have 1 positive feedback as a buyer.
I click the upgrade to a seller button, fill out all the neccessary info, including
clickign on the button 'register address'and it saves it with a green
tick, then click agree to terms and conditions, but the button at bottom of page
'úpgrade to a seller' is greyed out.
If i link my paypal through that page, on paypal is says successfully linked,
yet then i click return to bricklink page, all my info is missing, so i have
to start again and skip linking paypal.
I've done this multiple times on google chrome, on two different computers
and also in incognito mode - all end up the same with a greyed out button at
the bottom of the page
you have to upgrade your paypal account to a business account
Hmmm, it give me the option to link it as a personal account, and i don't
want to class it as a business account and be taxed, as this is just a hobby
Paypal recently updated requirements for what type of account is needed to connect
to stores, bricklink is usually very slow in updated things so they haven't
updated it on their end, feel free to search the forum and you'll find many
others who had this exact issue.
best of luck!

wonder if once store has been approved, if i can change it back to my regular
personal paypal account?

Glad to hear it worked! I’m doubtful you’ll be able to change it back after the
fact and it still work

Does Australia have a carve-out for hobby sellers so they don't have to pay
taxes?
Yes, if its a hobby then no tax. Definition of a hobby is a little open to interpretation.
If i am selling off some of my collection, then its a hobby. If i am obviously
buying and selling with intent to make $, then its classed as taxable.

That’s about the same everywhere… but having a “business” account on PayPal doesn’t
mean you’re not a hobby seller, and even less a registered business.
Since recently, PayPal business accounts forbid “friends & family” payments.
Some (both sellers and buyers) used that to avoid PayPal fees.
I think the recent restriction on the linking with BL¹ is of the same nature
/ for the same purpose.
