Hi I am looking forward to becoming a seller in Bricklink. I have recieved a
praise feedback from a seller, so I was able to fill out the 'upgrade to
a seller' part. However, for some reason, even though I kept filling out
all the stuff and connecting my Paypal account to bricklink, the final submission
button is not clickable. Is this a Paypal problem or what..?

you have to upgrade your Paypal account to a business account
Hi I am looking forward to becoming a seller in Bricklink.
Yeah, it is not as great as everyone thinks it is. I only do it to rid my collection
of all the stuff I cannot use or have too many of. It was better years ago to
actually make some sort of money. PayPal fees can take almost 12% of your sale
and in the US(well in Massachusetts) we have to pay state and income taxes because
Massachusetts is one of the most tax loving places in America. You have to input
all of your inventory and keep track of it and also pulling orders can be a nightmare
at times. I am not saying it is all bad. I enjoy the fact that I am helping
others find those pieces they need for a MOC or set that went missing. I am
saying there is NO WAY I would want to sell to "make money". With the
time spent and the amount of stuff I am selling to say I make anything would
be a lie. Unfortunately in my case the government doesn't value my time
so they will take their share of my small gains. Hopefully it is different for
you, I am sure others can chime in.
PayPal fees are like 3.5% + .30 (and international might be 1%-2% more not sure),
I’m not sure where you are getting 12% from. If your including the .30 base along
with the % in reference to small orders that could make sense but the other option
is you are including the “partner fee” in that number which is just sales tax
bricklink collected and removed from the payment.

If a seller allows orders of about $5 then the total paypal fee is about 10%.
If you include the paypal fee on shipping and tax then the paypal fee could well
be 15% of the cart price.

Indeed, but the op has a $7 minimum buy so such cases should be rare and presumably
they might be mixing the sales tax “partner fee” with PayPal fees

My minimum is $7 and shipping can vary but between $4.50 and $5 on small order.
PayPal fees are generally $1 or just slightly more on that but I never pass
that on so my $7 order is now $6. Might be more than 12% actually. I just got
an order for just over $7 this morning, when they pay I will let you guys know.
Again, not really here for the money as much as helping others and getting rid
of the excess.
I think like everyone(almost) as a child I wanted to work for TLG as a child
growing up. I guess in a way all of us that sell kind of in a small way do.
I definitely will be happy when I can devote more time to building though.
I have definitely taken the inventory down quite a bit since I reopened in AUG
of last year.
Had 2 orders of $7.11 and $7.18 and the PayPal fees were $.92 and $.93. I am
not sure why they are so high but they are. I made $5.98 and $6.03 after all
expenses not counting cost of LEGO. Mostly it isn't that I lose a little
on shipping it's the PayPal fees that definitely hit hard. Luckily I can
deduct them on the taxes.

It’s generally recommended to include all fixed $ costs in the shipping costs
so you don’t get burnt in the long run, say shipping is $5 and you always have
a base fee of .75 per order for packing, base .30 PayPal fee, gas to go to post
office, etc, it’s recommended to charge $5.75 on shipping

I did that back in the early days, but now, since the government got involved
I just take the hit and write it off. If I was relying on the money to survive
and pay bills I definitely would have to charge more but as a small store I am
trying to keep customer costs as low as possible.

I just don't get your calculation.
Maybe you're forgetting Sales Tax as other(s) said?
All in all on a $7 order then you've got roughly $0.30 base fees + say 3%
PayPal fees (to simplify). That is 0.3+0.21= $0.51 PayPal fees, which is a 7.2%
fee.
It is expensive but mainly due to the low value of the order.
On a $20 order, then it's 0.30+0.60= $0.90 which is 4.5% fee.
It's the same exact thing if you count the shipping, but you can't count
BOTH the order+shipping compared to the order value only (this has no meaning).
If you prefer, the $20 order can be a $15 order total + $5 shipping. The fees
are still 4.5%
And note on a $50 order fees are 0.30+1.5= $1.80 which is 3.6% fee only,
and it keeps on decreasing.
No way you get even close to the 12% apart using bad maffs
$7.13 order
$4.81 postage
$1.06 state taxes
$13.00 total
PayPal fee was $.94 (that is 13% of my $7.13 order gone)
So PayPal doesn't necessarily charge that much but that is what I LOSE on
just about every small order. Again, it is tax deductible but it is a big hit.
If you can figure out if I am being Overcharged by PayPal I am all ears.
$7.13 order
$4.81 postage
$1.06 state taxes

NO! You're comparing fees on the total to the order only without shipping.
This is ridiculously false.
$13 total = $0.94$ fees = 7.2%
This is mainly due to the base PayPal fees (0.30 or such) which are enormous
due to the tiny sale. See my other post. An order of $20 or $50 would have reduced
the total fees to a more correct 3% or such.

I agree it is 7.2% which is still Not 3 percent

It's more like $.49 and the percent they charge
But your 13% announcement is completely false.
It isn't if you look, what I said was 13% of my profit before costs was gone,
I never meant to imply they were charging that much it just ends up being about
that much. All I know is my $7.13 is now $6.08 before the cost of the LEGO is
included.

Because you DON'T have to apply actual shipping rates.
Simply add 3% or 5% to them, or a base fee of $1 and that's it.
This way you won't have such fees.
And maybe have a minimum $10 order price?
Because the base fees are big but on tiny orders.
Or again, charge a $1 handling/various fees to each orders, this way you won't
pay all this.

Also in this case using a micropayments paypal account or dynamics the fee would
be 25% lower at 0.05 + 5% instead.
PayPal charges Total paid by buyer x 3.49% + $0.49 for US orders or Total paid
x 4.99% + $0.49 for International orders.
$13.00 total x 3.49% = $0.45 + $0.49 fixed fee = $0.94
So the $0.94 is correct. The $0.49 fixed fee is a killer for small orders.
