Hello community!
I need you help and insight. I have a couple of monorail motors and today, last
I used them was like 3 years ago and they were working fine. Today I built my
monorail, put the battery on and none of the motors were working, after manually
spinning the gear at the bottom and slide them back and forth in the tracks,
they started spinning on their own. I was wondering if any of you have tips or
knowledge on how to keep them working, do I need to spray WD40 or add a drop
of lubricant oil in the gear, any recommendations on how to proceed?
Thank you all

I had that problem with some old 4,5V motors recently, a friend suggested a special
lubricant for record players, which worked fine. I don't remember the brand
unfortunately, but it's some synthetic, long-term greasing stuff; he said
WD-40 wouldn't be a good idea for various reasons. In any case it may be
a good idea to open up the part to get to the actual motor, but I haven't
tried that with monorail parts yet, no idea if it can be done distruction-free.
