Thank you yes that makes much more sense! I don't have a single piece of
Lego to try and reference this build so I appreciate that.
I'm imagining that the wall thickness would be 4 or 5 bricks thick so potentially
300,000 - 500,000 pieces?
You can make hollow walls / boxes, like cinder blocks actually
And you can slide the metal supports 1001 talked about into the hollows.
Honestly, I never did something that necessitated metal supports… but I nonetheless
think you’ll need some (big brick-built figures in shops and LEGOLAND parkse
often have them).
I am having trouble navigating this website -- I am just looking for where
to order that many pieces in bulk
Well, for “normal” MOCs (up to 10,000 parts, 1,000 or 2,000 different types/colours),
the best is to make a wanted list¹ with the parts you want and then use the site²
to help you find the stores (plural) that have the parts.
Here, you’re about going blind (you don’t know exactly what parts you want/need
and how many). That’s why I suggested using Studio³ to try some builds, then
order a few (thousands) parts to try your builds.
But you can also just start putting random bricks in your wanted list….
Alright I've downloaded this Lego studio (thanks to whoever suggested it),
and now I'm getting somewhere!
I've meticulously designed a hollow building brick that ill use to build
5 walls (5th for the roof) but now I need one of you savvy people to calculate
how many of these bricks I would need to build a 5x5 foot wall..
MATERIALS FOR EACH BRICK
(x2) 8x12 plates
(x40) 2x4 bricks

Well… apparently, you are starting from further away than we thought 😅

Those are not “plates,” they are “baseplates.” As the name suggests, they are
to be used at the base of builds, and because of that, they don’t have any connector
on the underside (and are half the height of normal plates and therefore “floppy”).
Also, those are old parts from the 1970s and there’s only very few available
for sale.
Connectivity: Studio lets you put parts on top of each other even if they
don’t connect because, well, it’s sometimes useful (like when you put a car on
a road).
But you can check that the parts are connected with the Stability check¹ or the
Selection by Connected².
Beware: these tools can help spot the beginner error you just made but they are
not to be trusted without testing IRL.
Availability: Studio can give you the available colours and average price
of parts. It’s not foolproof but old parts are generally more expensive.
You can also check the parts in the catalogue: select one in the build, and click
on the blue ID on the left of the Status bar at the bottom of the screen. That
will directly open the catalogue page for that part (in the correct colour too).
Hey so I'm looking for enough bricks (2x4 and bigger) to build a 6ft tall
cabin for a video project.
Any sellers or information where I could buy in bulk would be greatly appreciated.
Maybe this page will help you to get you some inspiration. The page is in Dutch,
but the pictures will say enough. Also there are plenty of translators around.
