In most countries, the tax collected by Bricklink is included in the order, but
why is money deducted from the order in the form of a credit somewhere when
I don't create a coupon?

For some orders, Bricklink collects tax and deducts some credit value at the
same time, sometimes it only collects tax and sometimes it only deducts some
credit from the order, why does this happen?

What was the buyers' countries of those orders where it says "Tax BL
Collected"?

AFAIK tax / VAT is only collected by BrickLink for orders shipped to the USA,
UK and Norway.

But you collect the VAT on all EU orders and then you need to report
it to your tax authority quarterly. But I guess you know that after more than
23k orders.

Hard to tell without the ability to see your settings.

Maybe you set discounts in your shipping methods which automatically adds the
credit to the orders?

And Australia, New Zealand, and, of course, EU.
There were noises about Switzerland but it appears it was just crickets (or,
at least, it’s all we’re hearing about it now).

(For all countries but the USA, only imports taxes are collected by BL.)

Correct, import VAT for EU buyers ordering from outside the EU below €150. I
didn’t mention that since the OP’s perspective was selling, not buying.

I thought as much but as I was completing your answer, I had to be complete

Also, to be really complete, one should look at the country-specific conditions
(threshold on the total, or by item, or “if” item; because, “let’s do the same
as our neighbours but a bit different so the teacher won’t see we copied” ):
