I've had a payment pending for 6 business days waiting for it to clear on
PayPal. On the PayPal site, I do not see a payment is pending. Is that normal?
Does it not appear on my account until it has cleared?
I had one too today, it took 3 attempts for my buyer to eventually pay his
order onsite.
You need to void the transaction in PayPal, set the payment status back to Not
Yet Paid and the order status back to Ready here, then the buyer should
be able to re-pay onsite.

That is my concern - I do not see the payment in PayPal at all. I will send
my buyer a message to confirm on their end. Just shows up as pending on Bricklink
with no info on PayPal. Thank you for the response! First time I've had
a pending payment.

Then simply Edit the order and set the payment status to Not Paid.

For the other forum posts, it seems PayPal invalidates (and deletes) these payments
after 24h, but the status isn’t updated on BL.

if its still marked as pending on the order page, the buyer might actually not
have paid yet at all.
In that case resend the invoice, and also send a copy to his actual email address.
I had a buyer a while back that thought his card was automatically charged when
he placed the order, he paid within a few minutes when I explained hat it wasn't.

I've been dealing with this a lot, and currently have an order like it. One
clarification: when you say set the payment status to "Not Yet Paid",
that's not an option. The options I see are:
None (cannot click on it)
Sent (cannot click on it)
Received
Clearing
Returned
Bounced
Completed
I set the status to "Bounced" because that seems correct, because the
first two options are unavailable regardless of what I set Order Status to.

You've got to Edit the order, then you'll have the payment status separated
from the order status.

Thank you very much! This fixed the issue. Hopefully no more cancelling orders
and asking the buyer to reorder because of this Pending-payment issue!

Yay! Happy for you!
Please later take half a day to find and test EVERY link and button on BrickLink.
But please don't erase your Inventory and tell it's my fault, I mean,
responsibly
Ah, and also read every Help page, of course.

It doesn't let you because it is as Pending on paypal, if you go to your
paypal activity and find the payment that is pending, the three dots option or
opening it will let you void it. Once done BL lets you change the payment status
to none and then you can send the invoice for the user to pay again onsite.

1001bricks' advice fixed the issue, but just a heads-up that this isn't
entirely correct - I had already voided the payment on PayPal as instructed,
but the Bricklink drop-down menu on the Orders Received page (with payment and
order status separated) didn't let me set the payment status to None or Sent,
just to the other 5 options. However, once I went to Edit Order from the Order
Page itself, I was able to set the payment status to None. The buyer just paid,
so it worked!

Is this the unofficial fix?
Yes, this is how I fixed it since the Help Desk’s answer below was not useful
weeks ago when it happened to me the first time.
“Thanks for reaching out for support and informing us of a problem! Since you
'voided' the payment, your order status has changed back to 'Ready'
which means your onsite PayPal payment was not completed.
If you need support with the payment, please contact PayPal directly. You can
also clear your web browser history, cookies, and cache for 'all time'
and try submitting this again through your BrickLink® invoice.”
I don’t know how clearing the cache on my computer would let the buyer pay properly,
it obviously would not. After voiding the transaction, it was not possible to
change the payment status just the order status (it was changed manually by me,
not automatically as the support thought) so the buyer could not complete the
payment onsite again and I needed to cancel the order. He placed a new order
later and managed to pay onsite.
