Since using BrickLink for the past 8 years I have always when listing an item
put the weight in and/or volume dimensions if it's large and requires a larger
parcel size. I ticked the box in setting to allow me to specify my own weights.

Just wondering if there is a better way of doing this. If I leave the weight
blank does it default to the catalogue weight automatically? But if I put something
in the weight or volume field will it then use my weights/size and override the
catalogue size? Read the instructions loads of times and it still doesn't
make it clear.

Why not just use the accurate weights and dimensions and adjust your packaging
/ shipping options instead.

As yorbrick suggest i always use the default and found them 99% accurate. I regularly
(after parting out or adding new pieces) check on items that are not available
for instant check out in case an element is missing.

And then you submit any missing info to the Catalog for everyone else to enjoy???

Do you have to enter your custom weight for an item in grams like the catalog
weight, or can you use ounces?
Just wondering
