I received an order today with the bricks being advertised as "New" but
they came with scratches and minor yellowing. Is there a standard for "new"
bricks other than "like new from LEGO"?

even new bricks can have some scuffs/scratches from lego directly and some older
versions of colors such as white can have a yellowish "hue" to them.

It’s a very simple one. TBH, I didn’t test it, it’s the first one that came
up

But it’s small and code comments are in French, un gage de qualité

There’s this one too: https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/link-to-text-fragment/
which has way more code.
I guess it’s to handle markers inside the text.

I guess there’s other addons out there….

Oh wow, so the first one doesn't create a link due to the [br] I guess, and
the second one makes a link for the whole paragraph. I'm not sure

Normally they shouldn't, but that much depends how much scratches and your
perception of yellowing.

New has a specific and simple definition here, see Nubs post.

With an USB 'microscope' (at $25) here are 2 pictures taken of said New
3001 bricks - which aren't at all.

Here on the left a new brick from a new LEGO Set, less yellow, few scratches.
On the right a used brick (sold as New)

Those seem heavy damages (and they are) but not seen at a glance, with your eyes
only.

But see the first picture, left brick brand New from sealed bag, you can click

New as used by BrickLink, doesn't mean Not Old, it is supposed to mean Not
Used. Very old, but New, parts may experience some color changes. Blue is infamous
for some pigments changing to odd shades.
