I don’t know about other people but I’m finding that if you try to use the navigation
menu at any kind of efficient speed it will frequently close on you where you
end up having to go back to the beginning again almost like a game
Obviously with a little extra care and moving mouse at a slower speed I’m sure
we can all access the menus first time every time but people like to get to things
with ease and speed
Here’s a little game for people to try...
Go to ‘Community’ dropdown and then rest the cursor on ‘All Topics’ without clicking
it but keep repeating this process at a fair speed whilst trying to avoid the
menu closing on you and what’s your success rate?

I think a few tweaks are needed
succes rate 100%.
Community move mouse down!
Yes I realise it will always work if you move down and across but that's
not what typically happens when you aim for a menu at pace

it is called modernisation , it is on more site. I you move left itis just
the other menu choice as you already found out.
After a few days use you even don't realise it any more.

also part of the issue for me is the distance you have to move the cursor for
the desired menu (almost two thirds away across the screen!)

I was getting it about 30% of the time. But then I set up a bookmark bar and
stopped trying.
I think I have it set up now with my essential 7 links. I don't actually
keep my browser screens wide enough to even have drop downs to miss-click.

Yeah, after using it a little bit, I have added bookmarks to everything that
I need to get to. How unfortunate, but the new header is just not efficient.
Couldn't agree more. The new design has some serious usability issues. Coming
from a background in web and UI design, the issue you point out is something
that should have easily been caught by QA and fixed before rolling out. The new
design is nicer looking, but objectively less efficient.
