Hello fellow Bricklinkers, so I was excited to hear about the Lego Take Back
program. I set a goal for myself to purge 30 lbs. of Lego from my personal collection
and store. I spent weeks going through all my brick and sets purging anything
that didn't look brand new. Anything Lego Friends went into my collection
box. I took advantage of a sale at my local Bricks and Minifigs to come up with
more Lego. I enlisted my kids to help me weigh it all and discussed what new
sets I would buy with the money. I was planning a trip to the closest Lego store
1.5 hours away. So the day comes to finally pack it all and get the shipping
labels from Lego. I had 34 lbs. of Lego and was over the moon happy. I drop
the boxes off at UPS and then wait to hear back from Lego. Days go by and I
get concerned. I look up the tracking numbers and it's confirmed Lego has
received the boxes. So I poke around a bit more on the Lego site and realize
I had sent my Lego to the Replay program and not the Take Back program. Lego
confirmed with me that it's all gone and I won't get any credit. I'm
completely heart-sick over it and had a good cry. At the moment I don't
want to look at or even think about Lego for a long time. I had my heart set
on getting a good deal on the LOTR Barad Dur set and now I don't think I
want it anymore. Yes, I get this is a first world problem and I should be a
better person and need a reality check. But today is not that day. Be careful
out there and always double check where you are sending your Lego to.

yikes! that's very unfortunate im not sure if it will help, but on the
bright side, at least some children in need will get lego out of it!

Seems you do get it. Sounds as though that "reality check" you've
already performed. No need to continue beating yourself up.

But today is not that day. Be careful out there and always double check where you are sending your Lego to.

Maybe it is today. You've cried, confessed your disappointment in yourself
and passed on that hard-earned lesson, so that others might avoid similar heartache,
all today. Tomorrow's a new day

Btw, were I in such a position with TLG, I might see this as an opportunity to
project some Goodwill by sending you that set, you and your kids worked and planned
towards. Just good PR. But I'm not. Who knows, maybe they'll be made
aware of your story

I did reach out on your behalf as I have a direct line rather than the bureaucratic
line. The correct management is reviewing the decision made.

Understand this, this is not a Lego issue. They have many employees who follow
a "generalized" SoP. The lower level employee did not do anything wrong,
they just did not go above and beyond whilst swamped with multiple customer service
issues.

In regards that 10333.....Be patient :d

You are amazing! TLG did see my post and reached out to me. I told my sad,
absurd story and they went over and beyond to make it right for me. My mind
is just really blown away. My kids and husband are in shock and awe. LEGO is
awesome! Everything is awesome! And you are awesome! Thanks for taking a moment
to read my humble post and reach out to TLG on my behalf. It really made a difference
for my family and easily lands in the top 10 coolest things anyone has done for
me. Have a great holiday season!

Very nice. LEGO is #1 in customer service nearly every time I have worked with

Thank you all for your kind words. I do feel better today. I can see the absurd
humor in it and laugh at myself a bit. I confessed to my kids and they took
it in stride with equal parts sympathy and good-natured ribbing. I even looked
at my Lego stash today and felt comforted that my collection had slimmed down
to my most treasured items. Life has a way of going on and other opportunities
will present themselves. The LOTR set is still on my horizon and it's good
to have goals we strive toward. Thanks again!

Gonna buy instead of making lunch for my daughter today...

She really enjoys as a rare treat, the children's Happy Meal from McDonalds.
But sometime ago, when short on time, I grabbed a pizza for our lunch together,
which she really enjoyed.

So today, I'm leaving it up to you, Jason: Pizza or Happy Meal? I leave for
the hospital in an hour, take your time

the hospital in an hour, take your time

What kind of a question is that? We all know the answer

Ah yes, we all assume the answer I'd kinda like to hear from your fellow
Canuck. Gotta feeling that her sentimental attachment to the Happy Meal, Jason
just might understand

Gonna buy instead of making lunch for my daughter today...

She really enjoys as a rare treat, the children's Happy Meal from McDonalds.
But sometime ago, when short on time, I grabbed a pizza for our lunch together,

So today, I'm leaving it up to you, Jason: Pizza or Happy Meal? I leave for

Itโ€™s why we watch old shows from when we where kids, play with LEGO and like
visiting places weโ€™ve been hundreds of times

I gotta go with pizza! But, it goes great with homemade ice cream so perhaps
that combo could work as a treat later on!

Good call. I'll pick up the ingredients on the way home then. Should be enough

But I do have her favorite ice cream made with loads of TLC, ready for after
our lunch on Monday, I'm thinking

Thanks for your input

I think that would be an excellent choice. Cookies and cream is one of my favorites
too. Maybe next time along with a footlong from subway.

That with one of their bags of sun chips makes one of those meals I long for.

Hey, that is an excellent tip! I had forgotten, but we when she was still a wee
one, would share the same Subway, her and I. Italian BMT on a baguette,
toasted with extra tomato/onion only, with vinegar on the meat side and oil on
the veggie side. My son had his own thing going with roast beef, etc.

Usually taking them on day hikes with us. So, much like the Happy Meal, it would
no doubt be a special treat for her. Thanks

Haha, I saw your post and did go have pizza that night! It was really good and
it felt good to have Bricklinkers like yourself be encouraging. I don't
want to start any pizza wars but my favorite pizza is hand-tossed crust with
pepperoni and pineapple, light cheese, and well done. And I ate a lot in your
honor!

I've sent 8 or so packages to the brick buy back program and I've received
a little over $850 in store credit. That will be for my grandkids.

So when I registered a package and entered the weight, I was sent an email with
the shipping label. I printed it, cut it out, and taped it to the box.

I don't quite understand how it could go to the wrong place. The label is
addressed and the postage is paid for.

More details please.

It was 100% user error. They used the wrong program.

Sorry, I don't understand. What program? I was sent an email and I printed
the postage and mailing label that was in the email. There was no program.

They sent to the replay program, not the take back program.

Yes, there was the Lego Take Brick Back program - that is where you sent your
stuff. It ends today, I think.

Speaking of the Take Back program; has anyone successfully used their discount
code? I keep getting an "unexpected error".

Disregard; .com was having a brain fart.
