In doing so, I used some prepared MILS's track with some 2x2 block pillars,
as this train sits on top of a quilted Christmas Tree skirt.
I've noticed that the train set itself, along with the 2x2 blocks (dark pink
- since this is what I had the most of) have lost their clutch power. The set
is always dissembled and cleaned if needed and the 2x2 were never stacked. I
noticed that the MILS track was literally coming apart as I handled it.
Of course, the MILS track has been assembled in storage, so I can see where the
grip is gone. Anyone else having issues with the clutch power on older sets.
Thankfully I didn't have any brittle parts (or breakage).

How was the set stored? If you had it in a place where the temperature can fluctuate
from really hot to really cold depending on the season, the expanding and contracting
from that can affect the clutch power. Ive had this issue with some sets I stored
in my attic. The parts look fine, but the connection strength is noticeably different.
