Hi,

IMO, there is no need to add a color for a Gear.
You can do it only for a part on catalog. But you should open the bag, add to
the catalog the parts inside, and make an inventory for this gear.

I don't want to open the bag. Changes the item from sealed to something else.

The main reason is that in Brickstore, the picture displays on the add item page,
but it does not display in the main file after it is added. I think this is based
on the color but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe there could be a not applicable
for the color?

These days, we only add colors to Gear items when there is more than one color
of the item. In this case, there is only one item, so it will remain as (Not
Applicable).

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=145

"Gear items should only be assigned a color when the item is a solid
color or one predominant color and the item exists in multiple colors within
the same catalog entry."

Cheers,
Randy

Not Applicable is my favorite color. So many possibilities! No limits! No
comparing and color matching. lol
