Yup, that s*cks (especially at this time of the year). We closed our shop for
now as we don't have other carriers we can (reasonably) use in our area.
We sent out a message to each of the customers with an open order.
Are there any other options out there that have rates similar to Canada Post's
letter mail rates within Canada.
Most of my orders are small and under 100 grams so they qualify for letter mail
shipping within Canada. Not sure if any other shipping companies have a similar
product.

Evan
For like $2-$3 more stallion express has options but it isn’t flat rate so if
it goes to the middle of no where or a P.O. Box it will still be $10+

Wow. They changed it last minute. I just was on their website yesterday and they
posted yesterday that they were only doing rotating strikes and that things were
still going to be delivered and such just with delays…

I know WAY worse than I thought it would be, the local post master says they
aren’t even allowed to take letter mail.

urge to order something

Like the last strike 60% of staff stayed on and continued to work. There were
delays opposed to no mail.
There are post offices that will accept mail and some will be unstaffed. For
example Canada post in "Shoppers" remains open in my area are those contracted
there have a dual contractual obligation also with shoppers, so it is a hit and
miss.
For shipping to the USA, particularly when items go through Vancouver and then
onto LA one should expect a delay.
But the truth of delay is obfuscated. Canada post for example has always said
"10 days" when it's delivered in 7 days to a customer in the USA.
Because Canada post uses the latest possible time in tracking rather than the
actual time.
I dont think its doom and gloom. I think we all for now just need to advise our
customers that there may be a delay.
Where the issue may begin for a seller for now is the Bricklink auto postage
fees when added. Because that shipping is based on Canada Post when many of us
for now will use stallion or UPS and so forth. The rates may all be different.
Not that Bricklink is accurate anyways because they base their estimates of the
weight and size of the actual set rather than the weight and size of the box
its sent in. I often get hit with 5$ over bricklinks postage estimate paid at
drivethrough

This is different from the last strike; it's not rotational. It's a complete
shutdown which Saitobricks included the communication from CP that details this.
Absolutely no parcels or mail is being processed while the strike is ongoing.
If they ever switch to the rotational strike (like the last one), then that's
when some mail gets processed with delays.

The thing is even if some PO are still open, the plants are still empty, as they
are implementing lockouts.

Well someone better go fire the postal staff who just accepted 2 parcels from
me in Calgary

They've said that some post offices may still be open (which I also assume
are mainly the 3rd party ones like Shoppers Drug Mart) to accept/retrieve packages
they're holding. Any mail you drop off will sit there until the strike ends
though.

Thats fine. I go back to my original comment. We should not close our stores
but advise the Buyer there may be delays due to a strike.
The buyer will have the option to wait (with proof of shipping) or they can cancel
their order (without an NPB).
Nothing about this is going to be smooth, but we cant ignore it either.
I don't want a kick back, happy for you to rejoice in a freebie.
Thanks!
But yeah it will be interesting what they give you back, I expect my sales to
increase over the next couple of months considering I only deal in sets.
We will see. That is like 10 free pizza's I hope you get fat!
. Just a heads up to make sure you have a stallion location near you as
packages shipped via stallion express can only be dropped off at a stallion express
branch (or put in a larger box and shipped to stallion)

Done and yes I do. Now I just need someone in "Canada" to make a purchase
from me to test it out. Not sure how long that will take I seem to have a lot
more American customers lately.

Perfect! If you wanted to test it out before offering it to customers I can place
a small order so you can learn the new site. (Btw they ship to most countries
outside Canada at great rates as well)

I am averaging right now 2.5 orders a week on bricklink and double that on competing
platforms. Save your money I suspect it will occur over the weekend in any event

referral code I was slightly wrong. I get the frree 25 bucks, you get .20 in
every dollar for the first 3 months of my shipments.
Sounds weird to me as my shipping costs for the last 3 months were over 1000.00.
so that is 200.00? surely they wont give you a free 200 bucks?
i looked at a it a little closer and it says
"$0.20 for each shipment they create for the first 3 months."
I got confused by that too. inside the program in shipping where it shows all
the transactions etc, it will actually showing me what you get.
Hopely there is enough for a juicy pineapple. They are about $5.99 at superstore.
lol. go check out my BDP part of my store, I just added another 50 or so items.
Considering I still have 2 of every set ever produced in my private holdings
I think I need a referral to 1800 mental health or a lego-logist for my legoitis
and get prescribed some legocilian.

I already registered but I will try to ship my first 4 orders tomorrow morning
with Stallion.
Thanks!

I think you will find the service with Stallion above expectations. During the
shipping stages it provides various methods of shipping and various fixed costs.
No more guessing.
I will never use Canada post again whilst Stallion exists, they are cheaper,
faster and easier to use.
I do particularly like the choices they offer between USPS/UPS/Purolator/ICS
and others.
Since the strike I have sent 14 sets to various parts of Nth America. The longest
took 7 days being Calgary to Texas. They ALL were cheaper than Canada Post Estimations,
all had tracking facilities and all could have insurance.

Best of luck!
I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were and cost effective. I just shipped
a 10276 (big and heavy) a few minutes ago. Canada Post was $168.45. Stallion
was $112.37. 4 days from Calgary to Washington!

Just got my first “where is my order” message from a buyer… I wonder how much
they will understand the strike. (The package was shipped lettermail just 1 and
a half weeks ago)

Here we go down to the land of Amazon
“Ohhh, where is my package? Ohhh, where is my package? Ohhh, where ohh where
is my package?”
To much fast shipping, people are getting spoiled, back in the day it could take
months for mail to be delivered

Related to this mess -
Both Purolator and UPS have issued warnings that they are overwhelmed with parcels,
impacting timely delivery (and even inability to accept new shipments). My colleague
just talked to a Purolator driver, that guy figures it would take until March
for Purolator to completely catch up (but that might be his guess, so take that
one with a pinch of salt).
In the Purolator Calgary depot they have 60 tractor-trailers waiting with no
drivers to move them.

to grow

I don't think that means all lego etc.
For example Stallion has a truck that goes to the USA border overnight and then
onto USPS. I am still getting dozens of items through iun mere days to America.
I tend to pick ICS as my first preference when shipping with Stallion and its
ground 2-4 days anywhere in Canada is cost effective for buyers.
Purolator is also the same speed to date within Canada in my last month of dealings.
UPS is 1 day slower than Purolator and ICS. I have also found there tracking
has been a bit screwy the last few days.
I am basing that on 64 parcels since November 1, 2024

I heard it was backlogged but that's a lot more then I expected! Thankyou
for sharing, ill be taking that into consideration when shipping orders out
