This is due to the fact Bricklink was bombarded by spam by zero feedback scammers.
Bricklink made it apparently impossible for zero feedbackers to email other members.
This is however very unfortunate because it might (and does) scare of new buyers
from having a nice experience on Bricklink.
When you look into recent forumposts you will know what I mean.
Maybe some members on this forum can help zero feedback members in emailing to
a seller?
I understand this it’s just if I don’t see a photo of the item I want from different
angles to see the quality then I will not be buying so will not get feedback
it’s a bit of a circle really, any other way of requesting photos for the seller

In our 10 odd years of selling here, both standard and rarer parts/figures, we've
only ever been asked ONCE for pictures. That was for a £400+ rare minifigure
we had.
As for taking pictures: if we were to sell boxed sets (only ever sold 1 or 2
since we opened), I doubt we'd be too chuffed about having to take pictures
from every angle, for every other set on offer, every other day.
That still wouldn't eliminate the possibility of bumps and creases happening
during transport, en route to the buyer.
If perfection is vital for buyers/collectors, then the ONLY option is the good
old fashioned way - go to a store, look at what you're buying first, and
then go home happy
Got to add, I find it quite a coincidence that there's now been 2 posts in
as many days, asking the same thing in the forum.. and then being linked with
the "not being able to contact seller" changes, the whole thing has left
me, well, confused.
Anyways - day's nearly over here for us. Time to sit back and enjoy a popcorn
pizza

Buy something small from any seller to get feedback. Many shops have no minimum
spend so you can spend a few pence to get up and running as a full member.

The question would be more: "Do you really need pictures", and knowing
many sellers won't send you any, anyway.
It actually says on the item that photos are available, it is a big bang theory
set I want a photo as the description says the box has wear and dings in the
side, I want to see how bad it is before paying, I’m in the uk and I believe
I will just leave it and buy from a more reputable site, where I can see the
item I am buying

This is a reputable site. The seller even told you the box has wear and dings
in the side. Online retailers might send such a set if you order new, as it is
new and sealed and almost certainly would not send photos before ordering. If
you are buying from an individual and want to see photos before buying, then
ebay is probably your best bet as you cannot ask here until you have some history.

Ouch.
A great example of the unfortunate consequences of the recently applied measures
to prevent spamming on Bricklink.
Apologies for my last suggestion of going to a store and buying it - wouldn't
be easy for the Big Bang Theory!
However, PLEASE don't let this make you feel the site isn't reputable.
Having been here a while now, I've seen the improvements made over the years,
but it's not been easy transforming it from a hobby/collector platform, to
a fully fledged modern online buying/selling platform! My guess: half way there
- at best. Is the BEST place for RETIRED sets though!!
After seeing the description for the one you're most likely interested in,
I feel for you. Quite clearly states, pics available. That's all you want..
Moreso because of it's rarity and price.
I really don't know the answer for this scenario.. Get someone on the forum
to ask on your behalf??
I'd be more than happy to help pass on your question, but sure is an untidy
way to do things, when similar situations arise for others too .. and possible
rules of the site being broken in the process...
Thank you for the replies in this forum I think I will leave it and not bother
using this site to me if you can’t even ask a question or see the item you are

They have sold over 17000 orders and been a member 20 years with decentfeedback
throughout that time. They know what they are doing. Their description of that
set is ...
The box has crease to the front and back and some shelf ware. There are some
digs and on the side. The box is still sealed. Photos available.
I'd take that to mean the set is new and sealed but that the box has noticeable
creases to the front and back, wear on the edges and scuffs on the sides.
If you want a sealed box for display, that is probably not the set for you and
if you want to see lots of photos there are some new sets on ebay at £40-50 more.
