BTW, I'm puzzled BrickLink is unable to process this maintenance at the same

Einstein proved there’s no such thing as “at the same time”
Very good But... proved?
If you're referring to the portion of his Special Theory of Relativity that
is Relativity of Simultaneity, by definition it is a theory and therefore not
considered proven or "proved". Further your "no such thing" statement,
besides not being aligned with the spirit of Einstein the theory itself does
allow for such to take place depending on the reference of the observer.
But hey, don't let me throw cold water onto you're fun here. I really
dig reading these types of forum back n'forth

Why does the server go down for 10 minutes every night?
Seems odd, I can't think of any other site that does this.

They do that to mix the spaghetti code around and add more sauce to keep it fresh

Seems odd, I can't think of any other site that does this.
It's because many of the aggregate values, such as average price and statistics,
are calculated once a day. They just reserve a timeslot a day for this database
intense operation, without any interference of sales transactions. Remember that
this site was originally designed as small scale hobby project over twenty years
ago and the database design reflects this.
Also, having this reserved timeslot allows for any database update that would
not do well when all kinds of transactions were taking place at the same time.

Thank you for explaining this. I was always curious as to the reasoning.
I suppose LEGO investing in a more modern system might break it?

I imagine any extra returns from improving the site by recoding from scratch
are simply not worth the costs. LEGO bought bricklink to expand the AFOL Designer
Program (now Bricklink Designer Program). And that has been a success, look at
how much income that is bringing in. The secondary market side of the business
and the profit it generates (remembering how many staff they have for that part)
appears to be a side issue. Yet it is important to keep BL asan active market,
as if BL is not active it is likely the BDP also dies in its current form.

Is it me or BrickLink is faster than ever, or just by chance as of right now?
In any way, congratulations, the work seems to have been sucessful!
