To be able to up my sorting speed, I like to understand the logic. Who knows
the reasoning?
(Or maybe there is no logic, and it's rather a situation of who was doing
the classification decisions at a moment in time.)

Fixing this is in catalog project hell. It could be done, but there is a lot
else to do.

Exactly, once a "tile" has a stud, it becomes a plate, not a modified
tile
They should 100% be "plate, modified" - trying to find these parts on
Bricklink & Studio is extremely annoying due to there being an inconsistent categorization
for many, many parts
Another recent example I've come across is this:
*
32828 Bar 1L with 1 x 1 Round Plate with Hollow Stud Parts: Bar
They should 100% be "plate, modified" - trying to find these parts on

I didn't even think about that. That must be super annoying.

Studs are the definitional difference between plates and tiles, so a stud would
make it a plate.
For the most part a "modified" has something added to the regular configuration.
I can see the argument going either way. Create a new category (and word) called
plile.

If adding studs to a tile makes it a "tile, modified" we don't even
need the plate category.

HA! I guess. Someone linked some other threads in my thread too I think. I
was genuinely asking because I'm trying to fully understand the nomenclature
and how things are classified for when I start inventorying sets and run across
something new.
