Hi all. I have a large lot of older white parts with stickers and printed pieces
in it. Some are very dirty and could use a lot of cleaning. It is very hard to
make sure they are super clean with just a soaking and a toothbrush. Would a
jewerly cleaner machine work to get the dirt off espeically the gooves and under
the studs? Just dish soap will be used in the water.

Thank you

I saw someone using an ultra sonic cleaner and they said it worked amazing and
I’ve been planning on getting one to wash my parts. I haven’t actually tried
it yet so can’t say for sure but I can say at least 1 person has been using it

Where you can read the small comment thread I talked with them about it if your
interested
(Ps looking back I realize they never said “amazing” like I said in original
response but it still sounds like they liked it)

There was a similar thread a while back; I use a small ultrasonic cleaner and
it is effective, but in my experience not to the extent that you’re hoping for.
It’s great for small parts that can jiggle around and are just dusty, especially
transparents. My machine won’t remove stuck on dirt. It will strip chrome off
so it’s not good for that. Larger parts I find turn out way better when washed
by hand, but maybe a large or industrial ultrasonic cleaner could do a better
job on those.
Unless you want to invest in a top notch machine, in my opinion your older white
decorated parts are better washed by hand with a larger, gentle brush and Dawn
dish soap. If you watch TV or chat with friends, it’s less of a chore. 🙂
I hope this helps!

Out of curiosity which model/company did you get?

It’s a Magnasonic, so nothing special. I saw on your vlog where you showed the
one you might get and it’s much bigger. If it works out for you with larger parts
maybe I’ll upgrade!

Thank you for the reply. I might try a small one but I am not sure.

Aw, that makes me sad. Do you have a LUG group near you? I’ve heard from my local
customers that they’re a great place to meet people and make new friends.

Otherwise, pick a rainy day and put on a good movie, get some snacks and wash
LEGO. Or grab a drink and your headphones, head outside when it’s nice and wash
LEGO there. If you know any kids, ask them to help! They love it (especially
if you throw a few LEGO animals in the mix just for fun) and they work for free.

Or, just try the cleaner and if you don’t like it, return it. 😉

Just get out and engage with others. You might be pleasantly surprised
