Hi everyone I had a buyer order three sets then asked if I would see if shipping
would be cheaper without bixes. So I opened them weighed them and it was much
cheaper $10.00 which is cheap for three sets. I gave him shipping price and he
just keeps telling me to cancel order. No explanation just keeps sending email
saying " cancel order". I don't want a negative review or hurt
my account so I said request a cancellation and I'll agree. Ifigure it's
not worth possibly getting a negative review doing anything else. The buyer hasn't
made the request to cancel he just writes cancel order. I asked if shipping was
issued to try to work with them but I just keep getting cancel order emails.
I like to put what happened in a review but I don't want to hurt my account
if they say something negative. Basically dues it matter who cancels the order.
I don't want it to show I cancelled it and even though I now have open box
sets I don't want issues but I think I should write a review so this doesn't
happen to someone ekse.. any info will be appreciated

If you believe the buyer will cause problems you can complete a NPB to prevent
bad feedback (probably fine in the usa). For the future tho you can just click
on the original box entry on bricklink and deduct the weight of that and then
you don’t have to open up any sets

Don't do that. Because if things go south and they renege then you;
now have open box sets
Which basically means you've just devalued the sets and now have to change
the condition.
IF they used Instant Checkout, and then asked you to check on the pricing, and
then reneged, then yea, I'd be ticked off. All the costs were outlined and
they paid. However if this was a manual invoice then I'm on the fence about
what to do - specifically in your situation where you opened the set. There
is a discussion about this from a few days ago. https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1482995
In the future, rather than open the sets, use the dimensions of the set listed
on bricklink and multiply the volume by .8. Find a box that will be able to
fit it with a little filler and then add the weight of that box to the set's
listed weight. This isn't perfect math but you'll be pretty darn close
to the actual costs. So much so that you might have to eat a dollar or two, or
you might over charge by a dollar or two - which you can always refund if it
suits you.
Rats... I think I used an illegal character again and all the text after it disappeared.
I forget what I was trying to say about Nubs method. :/
maybe pizza will fix it! Or the fun economics about how I saved somewhere
between $50-$90 (cad) on a $350 (usd) purchase by shipping it from a Canadian
seller to my USA address and then back from my USA address to here again (no
funny tax stuff involved don’t worry)

Not surprised, USPS First Class International is inexpensive (relatively) and
flat rate to Canada.

It’s about a 7-8 pound box which will be shipped likely via dhl from my USA address
to Canada

You have offered a cancellation, so just cancel the order. It doesn't matter
who requests it.

If you leave a negative, you will no doubt get one back.
You've got open sets, but you chose to open them. You could have taken the
set weight and subtracted the box weight to get the no-box weight.
I deal a lot in sets and do offer to ship without box, but ONLY after they pay
full shipping price, then afterwards I refund when shipping the item out. I
NEVER open boxes prior to full payment.
Also, the shipping savings in always on DIMENSIONAL WEIGHT and NOT ACTUAL weight
so the box weight is meaningless. New Lego sets also has so much empty space
in their boxes, you will usually save 40-50% of dimensional weight and thus
save quite a bit of shipping.
