you do know who owns bricklink right?
Lego as my short google research says? And what does that mean? They should have
the money to modernize it.

your question was "who is responsible for modernize this site?" so there
is your answer. your super callous phrasing of the "founder is dead"
has zero bearing on your question as ee has not been involved with this site
for over a decade.

I'm happy not to see moving gif signatures - I'd run away in fact!
BrickLink forum is not simple.
It's linked to important features, like about Catalog Change requests, Suggestions
(never implemented), Admins posts (never read), etc - and keeps tracks of those,
which is a good thing.
In short, changing this would be planning, changing and migrating a lot of things
- for what... 12 tired people posting every day?

are you finding unfriendly about the software?

I'd like to see notifications for mentions as well (e.g. Nubs gets notified
if I do @Nubs or whatever) as well as a flattening of threads so it's easier
to find messages you haven't read.

for example much easier to navigate and chose topics to read.

I was never on the internet in those days (wasn't even born in the first
few '00s ) so I dont know exactly what those are like but even tho some
things could be added to improve it, its core functionality is very well done
but that might have something to do with it being relatively "small"
so I'm not sure how good it would be if lots more people used it
I was never on the internet in those days (wasn't even born in the first

So back in the dark ages,
- we had to dial into an ISP to get to the internet. Everything was text based,
because the DVD player sized modems (phoneline connection devices) operated at
2400-14,400 baud (1/1,000 the speed of modern connections).
. . . Wait . . . DVD Player, you probably don't know what those were either
. . . Blu-Ray Player . . . you might be old enough to remember those.
- A big screen TV was 32". The front was curved in a cabinet/case 40"
wide x 30" tall x 25" deep.
- people spent too much energy worry about everything electronic dying at midnight
on 1/1/2000 due to the Y2K. (But at least we'd have hours advance warning
when Asia & Australia went dark first.)
- Mustard was considered a popular condiment and a basis for many fine Canadien
dishes: Poutine with Mustad Gravy, Montreal Muffulette Sandwich, Sweet Mustard
Pickles.
Probably good you weren't born until after the first few '00's.
You might have found it tough to survive.
. . . Blu-Ray Player . . . you might be old enough to remember those.
blurays are the best! (I am a big bluray collector )
Have you ever had a VHS player
yes I grew up with that my family was always behind on tech, we got
the GameCube when the xbox 360 was released and got a wii when the xbox one was
released so we had (and still have) many vhs but i prefer higher quality audio/video
so i stick with blurays

True, when ever there was tense part in a movie and everyone was supposed to
be quiet the audio would be static’en up a rock concert Never had any
game consoles, but my cousins did have a Wii, and because of that I think it’s
the best console ever made

It's funny. Before I got an xbox one, I had a Wii and used the heck out of
it playing all the LEGO games I could. I actually booted it up a few months ago
(amazingly it still worked) and played some Lego Batman (the first one) which
is easily the best game ever.

To me blu-ray is too high quality - very distracting.

PHP forums? That must be a new thing I'm not aware of...
Anyway, the point is if we had a clean navigation by topic, then, erm, we may
feel it very empty unfortunately.
In fact, it's more a kind a micro social network than a forum here, I'd
say?

One thing that sickens me is this attitude of if it's old it needs to be

I agree. I like it because it is so easy to navigate and it serves the main
purpose of what a forum should be - a place to ask questions and get answers.
and it does it well.

I hope we never get a Forum with fewer awesome features than we have here. This
Forum is old-fashioned looking but integrates with the entire BrickLink Catalog
system. I'll never vote for swapping it with some generic, bland replacement.

Newer platform would give the ability to keep track of history sales of parts
so you know how often parts sell and what only sells periodically. Also could
have orders showing weight right on orders page so you don't have to open
each order to see what the weight is.
