Been noticing a lot of scam stores with low or no feedback popping up. Usually
offering BDP sets from the new release and for below retail too! Some with positive
feedback from a member internationally who signed up the same say they left feedback...(so
legit. )
Seems many are ordering these kits to as availability never matches the wanted
list notifications once I get there. How does BL deal with this, and why are
non-vetted sellers being able to bypass what I thought was a secure system to
avoid this age-old scam tactic from new seller accounts?

Yes, been reporting, but stores are still up in some cases or take days to be
dealt with. By them most of the damage is done. Got a 4th alert from one just
now. They've apparently sold over 15x of the Mountain Fortress already.
Poor users falling for this scam. Just annoying the system cannot self-flag
such situations.

Seeing the amount of people that buy BDP sets just to resell them for 2x the
price makes me feel like the entire thing is a scam regardless of who you buy
from
BDP should rebrand to Bricklink Reseller Program at this point
if no reseller bought them then anyone who wanted one after the preorder would
never be able to get one aside from a small few who no longer wanted theirs.
if only a few people bought it to resell then the prices would be super high
but if lots of people buy it to resell then its "relatively" cheap for
those who want it later
What about the countless people that couldn't get the sets because
resellers scooped them up first? I've seen a lot of posts on Reddit and Brickset
where people who were waiting to preorder couldn't because the limit had
been reached, and when people are buying multiple just to flip as soon as they
receive them it leaves a sour taste in one's mouth - it's just a lame
situation all around
only when its super limited (which could be argued for wave 1) but weren't
most waves after that struggling to even sell the max number of pre orders aside
from the #1 most popular set in each wave?
they should've limited it to 1 per household
and then increased the limit after people got their initial orders in
Good idea. If they did that for at least the first day or two when the sets are
released, it could help keep the door open a little longer so that hopefully
more people will have time to purchase the really popular sets before they are
sold out.

Indeed, a varying purchase limit sounds interesting

No doubt. I wouldn't touch one of those sets with a 32 stud axle.

Isn't there a purchase limit of 2?
I don't think it is unrealistic for someone to buy one for themself and another
to sell. (The only reason most are reselling is so they can get a discount on
the first copy which they wanted to build for themselves)
The buyers who preorder are paying for the production of the set. Without these
buyers the set wouldn't be made.
The simplest solution would be for LEGO to expand the amount of preorders allowed
if they provide popular.
Personally, I'm not even spending $200 on a set at retail. You can buy 40
pounds of LEGO with minifigures for that price. (and build your own creations)

the first wave had it at 5 but yes i believe the rest were either 1 or 2

While that may appear simple, it may cause multiple difficulties. There are
agreements about how many can get produced, and given how much the designers
are paid it could cause problems compared to how much internal designers are
paid. Scheduling of unknown numbers of sets could also be an issue. And then
there is the exclusivity factor. If they are not as exclusive, will so many
buy for resale. We have already seen some sets underperform, as in not sell out,
I really wonder if they will even sell as many as that when it comes to payment
time. Will resellers keep their orders as there are less of them, or cancel orders
as demand is low.

That's the great thing about LEGO. There are many ways to use it. Some people
love MOCing, some reconstructing old sets, some building specific themes, some
collecting sealed sets, some displaying minifigs only, and so on. It's all
good.
Been noticing a lot of scam stores with low or no feedback popping up. Usually

list notifications once I get there. How does BL deal with this, and why are
non-vetted sellers being able to bypass what I thought was a secure system to
avoid this age-old scam tactic from new seller accounts?

100% fake only offering new sets that are very expensive and wanted. Worst part
they got feedback from the boyz_bricks, a respected forum member.

Either I'm looking at the wrong Boyz Bricks, or I'm very confused. This
one is in RU, and has not been active since early 2022.

Yup, see, and here's the problem now; they have +2. I was alluding to this
in another post a few days ago (I think, I might have not hit submit because
I didn't want to give anyone any ideas), but it's extremely easy to flood
the site with fake accounts if they can just get that first feedback.
I kind of miss the old days where it could take months to get approved to sell.
Might be worth storing the authentication photos (ID and photos of inventory)
to cross reference? (I can't remember if it was BL or Brickowl that requested
photos of my ID and inventory.)

BL requests a photo of you along with your inventory, but obviously you can make
whatever changes you want once you're approved

Huh, odd, thanks for checking, very strange, looks like a imposter.
the one Saitobricks was referring to is the_boyz_bricks, they're active in
the forum & just happened to be the store this alleged scammer bought from to
get feedback
