I bought from a seller not long ago, they canceled, I left a neutral feedback.
We emailed back and forth after they retaliated with a negative, and they were
sadly quite nasty throughout which really tested my patience. But I was irked
by one of the last things they said.
"Moreover, I am a LEGO influencer, and I will do everything I can to rally
my audience to leave negative reviews for you. Have a nice evening."
I am wondering if there is anything that can be done in response to these types
of threats? Because this seems like the type of behavior that will reflect poorly
on Bricklink.
They have also called me "immoral", "malcious", said "you
don't seem to be very well-educated", "You don't seem to have
any logic." and "I don't care about negative reviews at all, but
maybe you do, so you'll receive many negative reviews. Look forward to it."

If these threats were through the BL messaging system, report the seller. If
they were over email I don't think there's much that can be done.

Well that is a shame if that is the case, as most of the communication was via
email.
Honestly I would not worry about this seller at all. The threats sound rather
empty to me. Of course that's easy for me to say since I'm not the one
who's been threatened.

Wouldn't it look like they were either the person making threats or just
making stuff up?
This is why it would be better if all communication was via BL messages and not
direct email.

Yeah, you are probably correct. I have been buying and selling on Bricklink for
quite sometime, and no seller or buyer has every been this rude. I tried giving
them some pointers, but was pretty much always met with hostility.
The seller actually seems pretty immature with the amount and type of threats/insults.
I wonder if they are underage? But Bricklink already checks for that, right?

Do not worry about. I once had a buyer getting hopping mad over nothing that
made a similar threat. He claimed that he was some kind of a celebrity in his
country’s LEGO community, and said he was going to tell everybody about my horrible
store. The next 2-3 weeks we had a huge increase in orders from that country;
at least 10 times the normal rate.
So we concluded that he was indeed known in the community, and he did tell everyone
about us. But it did not give the result he wanted.

His rudeness was probably well known with the Lego community in your country.
1. If the seller agreed to cancel your order, at your request, he did you a favour.
Why would you then penalize the seller with a neutral feedback? Unless there
was a problem on the seller's performance, then I think no feedback should
be given from either party
2. Threats are unacceptable. The threat here, seems to be a form of feedback
extortion. That is not allowed on Bricklink and should be reported. Maybe it
is true that little could be done about it, but putting it on the record may
help with the next case involving this person.
3. Reply in feedback describing the unprofessional conduct of the seller, including
the details you posted here.

The seller cancelled because the buyer is also a seller.

I didn't request the cancellation, and then they lied about being out of
inventory as the reason they canceled and then relisted the same items.
You penalized the seller with what you know to be (essentially) a negative strike,
and now you’re peeved that they perceive it as such, and have respond accordingly
How is this to be perceived as “you being the victim" here?
Communication exhaustion, before feedback. Take the time necessary
I'm only curious how this has not been driven home with such a longstanding
member by now?

I gave them an appropriate feedback of a neutral for canceling the order. In
the cancellation they stated "out of inventory" and then immediately
relisted the exact same quantity of items adding "must be sold with..."
another item to the description. The neutral was for lying about not having
the inventory they indeed had. It turns out they don't like that I am a seller
as well.
I get other sellers that buy from me all the time. If I canceled on them without
a proper explanation, lied about not having the inventory in the cancellation
request, and then relisted said items I would expect a similar feedback.

No, the feedback they gave me is inconsequential. It's the threat that I
am peeved at, the threat of enlisting their followers to give negative feedback
under false pretenses.
How is this to be perceived as “you being the victim" here?
They made a pretty nasty threat in an email, I did not do the same.

Perhaps this works most of the time, I agree. But I caught them lying before
direct communication even started. Dishonesty is probably one of my biggest peeves
in life, so perhaps I was wrong to leave feedback first. But how do you have
a proper conversation knowing that a person is willing to lie? Trust was already
broken. Frankly I find the vast majority of Bricklinkers are very reasonable
and willing to communicate, accept apologizes for mistakes, and or apology for
mistakes they have made and are honest. As in you can't make an unreasonable
person reasonable if they also already hate you for being "competition"
as well, for being another seller in this case.

It was a cancelled order with communicate. Which in total, should have taken
less of your time than your public complaint (post) about it did. Learn from
it, or don't. Just don't waste any more of your valuable time, bumping
heads with someone you'll not be dealing with going forward.
Cancelled orders, I blowoff and move-on. Sometimes creating a note of the member:

to you both, then it should be fixable. Despite the words exchanged.
I will pull your order and ship it quickly.....that is our running "threat"

I am just wondering: he messaged you and called you "immoral",...and

so, you replied again (assuming with a very professional tone) and he replied
again "You don't seem to have any logic." and then you replied again
and he replied "Moreover, I am a LEGO influencer, and I will do everything
I can to rally my audience to leave negative reviews for you. Have a nice evening."
and this back and forth continued like this?
Or worse, you mentioned how his his feedback, left and received, would impact
negatively on his profile, or some many sellers would stoplist him....
I had a buyer, long time ago, who messaged me "you are weak..." and that
was the end of my communication with him.
I am just wondering: he messaged you and called you "immoral",...and

"immoral" is what they stated in a feedback followup, well after direct
communication stopped. Though they did start out with malicious as their initial
feedback.... so I guess there isn't much difference?
and so, you replied again (assuming with a very professional tone) and he replied
again "You don't seem to have any logic."
Most of my replies ranged from very professional to mostly professional. I told
them I didn't think they understood what malicious means in the context of
their feedback, was probably the least professional thing I said. I think I initially
glossed over most of the insults, until I decided to look again today and realized
they made threats with the insults.
and then you replied again
and he replied "Moreover, I am a LEGO influencer, and I will do everything
I can to rally my audience to leave negative reviews for you. Have a nice evening."
and this back and forth continued like this?
That was basically the last thing said by them. I forgot they wrote that bit
until I looked again today. It's the first time anyone has said anything
remotely like it to me on bricklink and it seems like it's probably against
the TOS? Which is why I posted here seeking guidance.
Or worse, you mentioned how his his feedback, left and received, would impact
negatively on his profile, or some many sellers would stoplist him....
He pretty much bragged about not caring about receiving negative feedback and
that they reveled in me receiving it. I pointed out that since I was a buyer
it had no effect on my seller account and thus it would effect them considerably
more and they didn't believe me. I checked my store and it indeed did not
change anything there.
I had a buyer, long time ago, who messaged me "you are weak..." and that
was the end of my communication with him.
Yeah, this would have been smart. Part of me was trying to help him out by giving
advice on how to use things like Super Lots, because that would better for the
Bricklink community as a whole and perhaps could have avoided this whole mess
in the first place.

I would see if BL will remove the negative on your feedback profile.
It is the seller's fault for cancelling the order for frivolous reasons.
They dishonored a legally binding contract.
Personally I would have just ignored the cancellation. Yeah, it is a little annoying,
but I can just as easily order from somewhere else.

Follow up:
I contacted Bricklink Help desk and I provided a screenshot of the threats the
seller made and they decided to remove the negative feedback the seller gave
me which I felt was overall rank and disingenuous. I wasn't expecting that,
as I was hoping for Bricklink to perhaps just lecture the seller in why making
threats to other Bricklinkers is not acceptable behavior and leave them a warning
that such repeated action would result in an appropriate response.
I guess my overall point is that sadly a bad encounter may occur when you don't
expect it and I felt like I did the right thing by standing up to and exposing
a seller that is sadly not, IMO, cut out for the long term.
As I see it a seller should have some core fundamentals in providing service
to not just most buyers, but to every buyer. Even ones that are also sellers.
Some of those core fundamentals, for me, are:
- Communication
- Patience / Understanding
- Willingness to correct and apologize for mistakes
- Flexibility
- Timeliness
Even with this sellers general lack of tact throughout communication I still
felt the need to share guidance as an experienced seller in perhaps help them
avoid any future issues they may have. I think this is overall better for the
Bricklink community as a whole. Unfortunately I don't think they were receptive
and I fear a future transaction for them is a potential ticking time bomb.
As a buyer / seller I personally perceive it when another seller buys from me
as partnership. All sellers on Bricklink after all are resellers of Lego to varying
degrees, unless TLG themselves decides to open their own Bricklink operation.
In fact another seller bought an entire lot of items from me today. If they
can find a more lucrative market to sell them, then good luck to them! A seller
I have bought from numerous times as well. Embrace the inevitable or fight against
it are the options. But why fight when we can groove together? I see it as a
win-win.

On both ends

I’m really not very good at yoga so probably not

Try my best at this

Any seller can buy 1000s of lots from me and I would be fine with it (as long
as they understand it will take a bit longer than normal) because I get out of
it what I wanted.
And it’s the same logic the other way around
