In the past we decided to add cardboard sleeves to the BrickLink catalog, because
after checking what was in it, the sleeves couldn't be closed again / were
damaged.
It was already decided not to add all cardboard sleeves, like the ones with instructions
and we also didn't add plastic packaging.
In the meantime packaging has changed for a while already. Cardboard sleeves
can be opened and closed again without damage, plastic packaging has been replaced
by paper sleeves and also large items are packed in paper sleeves. These paper
sleeves have the same open / close system as the new cardboard sleeves.
After discussing this in our Admin meeting, we decided not to add the paper sleeves
to the catalog and for the same reason to stop with adding cardboard sleeves
that can be opened and closed again without damage.
- The two sleeves on the left can still be added to the catalog, but not the
two on the right.
- The ones already in the catalog will stay there and set numbers can still be
added.
However. Even if they aren't part of inventories, a listing in the catalog
maybe helpful for sellers. Esp. if they stored older part-outs for a while and
list them later. They could find them and know whats inside.
I've stumbled upon that now. Had two 4580964 i've got appr. 5 years ago,
would have no idea whats inside if it wasn't in the cat.
The parts in cardboards are mostly ones without numbers on it (clothes, rubber
and such).
So I propose: add the cardboards anyway but don't put them into the inventories.
Even marked for deletion would be fine, at least we can find them and see whats
inside.
Please discuss, Catmins.
