As we all know, getting buyers to reply to messages and/or leave feedback can
be brutal. I don't know if it's just me but my feedback response rate
fell off a cliff around early February. 83 orders and just 35 feedbacks which
drops well below the 60% rate most of us have.

I've had a few buyers with very high feedback numbers but they have left
___ZERO___ for other users. Those people are to far gone, so I decided to try
to tackle the problem with the new users.

I tend to get a lot of buyers with very low scores, so when I recently had a
few zero feedback users place orders, I decided to try something proactive and
drafted up this letter which was included in their package. Of the two I sent
it to so far, both followed the instructions. One even went back and added feedback
for other orders they placed. I sent my third one out today which is what prompted
me to go double check on the other two users.

And I know, I know, "don't worry about your feedback number more than
your feedback rating", but there are people out who see that number first
and assume that with experience comes better service and fewer hassles. It's
also just a few extra keystrokes of extra work to help improve the community
for everyone IMO.

Do you send "Thank You, Drive Thru!" messages?

I do, and I tried adding something similar in early February but it didn’t have
the images. As a visual person, that’s how I learn, so I swapped back in the
original text and made this. I’d have to dig through the orders to see what
the outcome was. I don’t remember user id but they had a very uncommon first
name.

Hello,

In my honest opinion, your letter is a bit wordy and goes well past the fundamentals
that a new user would need to be exposed to. Some users may appreciate the information,
some users may wonder why they need to read a wall of text to just order some
LEGO.

Also, it's BrickLink, not Bricklink.

Thanks,
~Jen

Yea, I knew I was in trouble when I had to pull the margin down an eighth of
an inch to fit it all. I'm tucking it away for a while and will revisit
it with fresh eyes towards the end of the month. Ideally I can boil it down
to a third of a page.

You are looking at the wrong logo. See the better one at the bottom of the
page. The new 'bricklink' logo (boring modern design without character
or reference to its source) was designed by someone who didn't even get the
correct proportions of a brick. It bothers me literally every time I see it.
Sigh...

OH shoot, I wasn't even paying attention. I think grammar check might have

If my memory serves me correctly wasn't a selection of new logos presented
to us to vote on?

I think we voted for (and they opted to use) the best of a bad bunch so it could
have been much worse

Don't forget the sad no results version of it:

I definitely agree that it could be worse.

I suspect it was designed to represent what they wanted 'bricklink' to
be: a modern, sleek, user-friendly community.

What it doesn't do is represent what we actually are: complicated, a mash-up
of old and new, and architectural.

And perhaps not a cube with a tiny cylinder hat. At least there is a near-cube
in the LEGO catalog now:

Part No: 19729pb004 Name: Minifigure, Head, Modified Cube with Pixelated Black Eyes, Light Bluish Gray Nose, and Black Mouth Pattern (Minecraft Skeleton)
*
19729pb004 Minifigure, Head, Modified Cube with Pixelated Black Eyes, Light Bluish Gray Nose, and Black Mouth Pattern (Minecraft Skeleton)
Parts: Minifigure, Head, Modified
I'll choose this one for when the sad face icon is needed:

Part No: 19729pb059 Name: Minifigure, Head, Modified Cube with Pixelated Bright Light Blue Face, Red Eyes, and Dark Blue Mouth and Brow Pattern (Minecraft Yeti)
*
19729pb059 Minifigure, Head, Modified Cube with Pixelated Bright Light Blue Face, Red Eyes, and Dark Blue Mouth and Brow Pattern (Minecraft Yeti)
Parts: Minifigure, Head, Modified

Thanks!

I don't print anything and send it with the order.

It's approx 10g CO2 to make a single sheet of paper, 2g to print it, and
the addition CO2 and various due to the fuel cost to ship it, plus the cost of
disposing or even recycling it...

Also, you may even get a non positive Feedback for doing this if you fell on
an ecologist buyer

LOL! Oooooh my lord, if you only knew how far out of my way I went to source
biodegradable bubble wrap, poly bags, tape and mailers. I need more carbon credits
for my own flatulence then I do for my printing.

Speaking of which, the same company I'm buying from has released mailer bags
made from recycled ocean plastic and I'm dying to buy some, but their bubble
inserts (as of the last order) didn't fit. So I'm waiting to deplete
all my current shipping supplies before ordering. I'm not secret about this
stuff; this is the company: https://www.betterpackaging.com/

The stuff isn't cheap unfortunately but it's a cost of business for me.

in the 3Rs Reduce & Reuse come before recycle

Most of my mailers are reused mailers that I received, same for boxes and parts
baggies. Occasionally, I send the excess boxes to the recycle bin

Maybe I should sell more and buy less... but that is hard!

Interesting, Thomas. It's sentiment of which, I completely understand. But
just let it drift for you're own peace-of-mind, is my advise. Not withstanding
the "help improve the community" aspect, of course.
