(Will this issue be discussed in the upcoming admin meeting?)
Nope. It has been discussed. We can't do anything. The site has to fix it,
and I am sure that this doesn't even register on their list of things to
do.

Well whoever is in charge better pull there pants up, because with the new sound
bricks, and soon to arrive “the smartest brick ever” we need that function. Badly.

I honestly never really saw a use for it, although I can understand the appeal.
I thought it was gimmicky when it actually did work, but someone can easily make
a YouTube video with the sounds playing if they want it that badly.

Actually we can just put a note with a link to the mp3 audio saved into BrickLink,
just tested with this one sample:

The site has other functionality tied in with how this is all handled, so it
is best they fix the functionality rather than us creating workarounds.
Frankly I prefer the workaround - any, than BrickLink changing the website for
what... ten parts that could use sound? Or 100? On what... 100,000 or more?

Problem, who would put the effort into a video that might only get a few hundred
views?

Judging by what is already on YouTube in the LEGO fan community, plenty of people.

True, but it is a hassle to go to another site and look up the item, when you
could just open a page here and listen.
Unfortunately, there is nothing that the catalog admin team can do, and the site
management was made aware of this issue many moons ago. I know that it is still
on their list of things to accomplish (it was talked about very recently), but
I have no idea when that ever will be.
Also, when the ability to add sound files is possibly restored, I don't even
know then if the catalog admins will have anything to do with getting them added
to the site.

Thanks for letting me know the state of things, I know it will be a long while
before this is fixed so I will be patient
