| i have searched for terms that i thought would make sense but cannot find this
part. From a job lot so no idea what genre it may even be from.

Hi!
It´s a coupling between a car and trailer from 1960´s Lego. I haven´t found the
set but got this answer from a forum on Facebook. Hope it helps!

is often a good place to check if you encounter “unusual” parts.
